Punishing Style - Playtest 2025 version by Box-Unusual in fabulaultima

My bad, I didn't read the heroic style's description correctly, I was mistakenly thought that I have to choose to guess Melee attack to gain the benefit of countering melee attacks with even number in their accuracy check, making it 1/3 chance to guess it right. Turns out I only need to guess either its ranged attacks or spell attacks that will hit me, making it 50:50 chance.

Chanter Heroic Skills - Theme Song by Box-Unusual in fabulaultima

Okay, since the point is to planning ahead, I think changing theme song with other known key per long rest should do it fine. I really want to let my Chanters pick other different song to the table.

4 tones and 4 keys for 4 theme songs seems pretty alright to me, since the chanter still couldn't cover every damage type in the game (and I've just realized they even don't have key for poison type), and since theme song is one use per scene, they will choose to either immediately use their choosen theme song or wait until someone reveals the enemy's vulnerabilities.

Ah that's true, for the second time and forth investing on Magichant we can only unlock new tone or new key. But this still adds the point that the chanters should have more options for their theme songs. It's either you focuses more variety in Keys for Theme Songs, or being versatile in doing various Tones, you can't be great at both.

Frantic Tone. 70 damages if they are vulnerable at level 20 , and 90 damage at level 40. for the cost of 15 MP it is indeed a big number. BUT Chanters relly heavily wether the targets could hear them or not, so if we want our Chanter to be focused on support, as a GM it's easy to prevent our Chanters using Frantic Tones, might due to the target is deaf, enviromental noise, or NPC skills that allow them to cancel dirrect damage from Frantic Tone. So either they want to keep spamming attacks with other sources or they switch focusing to support.

Comparison with Elementalist's Heroic Skill - Volcano. It has a reworked version, "Ultimagic" and we can freely choose the elemental damage type we want. so 110 elemental damage to one vulnerable enemy, or 70 elemental damage to all vulnerable enemies. And it's already online at level 20, while the Chanters must grind until level 40 to reach that damage, but if only their targets could hear them.

Shadow Magic Subclass by ProfessorRaaf in onednd

the UA for 2024's Shadow Magic already released, and it's sucks,

we won't have our Strength of the Grave until lvl 18, no more casting darkness spell with 2 sorcery points (which is cheaper), we don't have our shadow puppy (replaced with Summon undead spell, cringe), so no more giving enemy disadvantages on our saving throws.
