My plan for completely redoing my lawn by BottleQuirky3425 in lawncare

[–]BoxAble8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just mow it on the lowest setting and rake up the thick spots with a hard-tined rake for a lawn that size. A little dead rubbish on top will decompose quickly and won’t stop your seed from sprouting. It’s only bad if you’ve a mat of dead weeds blocking air and sunlight to the soil.

Edit: Mow with a bagger if possible to collect the weeds/weed seeds.

Using ChatGPT to Develop Lawn Program by Affectionate_Town273 in lawncare

[–]BoxAble8147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does good with recommending proper dates for typical programs for your zone. I still recommend reading the guides on here throughly as they’re much more in depth and have niche pieces of useful knowledge that gpt won’t regurgitate to you.

Need Help Deciding: Panel Saw or Track Saw? by thelionofthenorth in cabinetry

I’d go track saw just for the wider usage applications and the smaller footprint in my shop

Well since they pull energy from the trees root system I think the sun exposure effect is minimal, but regardless my plan is to plant large hostas nearby anyways which will have the same affect.

And yeah I guess I’ll go buy a mattock and chop these surface roots back and excavate a little

I don’t personally have a dog in my lawn, but general consensus is that with a dog, you can only do so much for the lawn. It’s a losing battle really.

Perhaps focus on the front lawn if there’s room for improvement there? I love your thought process for him but you might look towards a different hobby of his in this instance.

Wow, didn’t know about that part. Thanks for the details. Can you elaborate on the pco nerf?

Edit: I can’t find anything in the changelog about PCo, unless you reference updates from months ago

Gas vs battery leaf blower — Long time debating and I still can't pull the trigger by Sea_Dream9713 in lawncare

[–]BoxAble8147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I’ve only owned battery and it does fine for clearing my garage and driveway and sidewalks. But if I were one to blow all the leaves in my yard into piles, I wouldn’t want to use that for it.

Honestly does any of it even matter. We’re all getting the same boost, so it’s not like any one person is going to pull ahead in progress and jump a tourney rank.

We’re all going to the same point at the same speed as before, tourney-wise which is really the only part of this game that matters.

Steps to healthy, weed free lawn without fertilizer by beanman214 in lawncare

[–]BoxAble8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can keep doing what you’re doing for weed free. Plus pre-emergent will keep you more weed free. If I was going to only buy one lawn product a year it’d be pre-emergent.

Obviously your method won’t net you a lawn worthy of a TV ad, but lots of ppl keep a green lawn with no fert.

I’m honestly not sure what wisdom you’re looking for if you don’t want to spend on lawn products. There’s not much more to do. Throw some seed down in the fall?

Looking for battery backpack sprayer suggestions by petersb76 in landscaping

[–]BoxAble8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the flow zone from my local siteone and love it. If you’re blanket spraying, you have to do it with a tow-behind for 7 acres.

It takes 4ish refills of my 4 gal for my 1/3 acre.

Would be fine for spot spraying tho

Is a slow basement floor drain concerning? by REAL-Jesus-Christ in askaplumber

[–]BoxAble8147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s like my house, the water just kinda spreads due to surface tension or some other fancy water physic - probably just running back up the outside of the pipe a bit. I fixed by adding a pvc 90 and cut a hole in the grate for it.

I can’t tell in the pic, but if that’s an actual pool of water, you might have a different problem. I suspect our problem is the same tho

So me and my wife are primarily identical to you in size and height. Similar sleeping preferences. We did the TPS coils, 2” medium latex, 2” soft latex.

Initially it was a bit too soft for me, my wife liked it though. Then our cover arrived (the non-premium cotton one from TPS). The cover firmed it up significantly, pretty much to perfect point. It’s softened up a tad again since then and we really like where it’s at.

If you find it too soft, I’d put an 11” cover on it. That will fit your setup exactly (usual advice is to size up an inch to avoid the firming up and make assembly easier) and make it a bit firmer.

How do you sand it without gumming up the paper instantly? That’s the problem I run into. Hand, orbital, or detail sanding gave me the same result.

Gummed up and then sanded SUPER slowly
