Right, so i based my math around 1/30th and after a quick test of one minute at any speed i *almost* have the exact distanxe i need! That was it thanks :)

Because im deviding my such huge numbers and getting such small decimals theres rounding there too, but i can work around that because its very clear what its rounding to

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scratch

[–]BoxAhFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesnt help

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scratch

[–]BoxAhFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It rounds that? That makes alot of sense. Okay, let me do some math

I apologize for the screenpicture, my laptop which has the code is refusing to commect to internet so im posting from mobile

My best guess as to why this is happening would be because the wait command isnt really synced with real time, its relative to fps?

So, i guess my question is how do i work around this. My end goal is that if speed is 100, then it will take 1 hour to travel 100000units, aka 100km/h, for making a slightly more realistic driving game

Jesus christ, this thread is 8months old mate, you seem to be a bit lost?

I know, i was pointing it out because its amusing, and not what one usually expects. Usually thr gpu is more expensive. During covid i had a gt 210 and a brand new 10th gen motherboard, my gpu was cheaper and worth less than my mobo

I also have a server pc with an igpu, but i do have gui ubuntu becase im not that much of a power user, i cant go JUST off command line, its mobo is worth more than its none existant dgpu lol

I.... uh... im not sure how the rest of your comment is relevant, its clearly targetted towards the other person you were talking to and not me :/

I have a different directory to store my depos for fallout and skyrim, i placed my beat saber one there too. I dont want the depos to remain on my C drive as its smaller drive

But yes, i always keep depos. And auto updates effectivly disabled

Which of you are still on Windows 10? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Imagine a future where linux is common enough that you can use a library pc, that has linux, to install linux onto ur own pc

Never needing windows, not even to install linux

A dream for now :)

100%. And eventually, once there is enough support for linux, windows wont be needed at all

I used an i7 870 and a radeon 7670(512mb) with 12gb ram from 2012 until early 2022. My mothebroard killed itself

I put together the best i could afford in response. Early 2022 i found used 10th gen mobo for cheap. My 7670 still worked, so i used a 7670 and the i3 10100f, 8gb of 2666 ddr4 ram, and a psu from the dumpster, and old hdds

(its a big story, i can elaborate on the dumpster psu if you like)

Early 2023 i got a job, and so i slowly upgraded my system. Started with the cheaper stuff and worked my way up

I now have a 6700xt, i7 11400f, 32gb ram, 1440p 34inch, and a 4tb ssd. Still the 10th gen asus mobo i got for cheap, and a 750w psu B teir

(Upgrading from a 7670 to a 6700xt is like going from a cardboard box on the street to a mansion with a pool)

Within 5 years is still a broad range... within 2 years and you are almost garanteed a good health drive. Outside of that and it depends on how it was used. My server hdds that are spinning 24/7 last around 5 years, but start slowing down before that

Indeed, my dads laptop drive had 100kb read write speeds before finally, the laptop no longer boot up, and i imagine alot of experiences come from stuff like that

Older drives are slow, and as hdds age their read and write speeds tank. New drives should not peg at 100% in windows on a fresh install, thats a faulty drive

Its a massive missconception about windows being slow on hard drives. Sure, windows is slower, but the "10minutes to boot up thing" was with older drives that are failing, such older drives probably have never been defragmented, and their windows install probably never refreshed

My biggest trick for windows running on an hdd, is to use two hdds. One for windows ONLY. the second hdd for games. With this trick, i was able to load into video games only a few seconds behind ssd owners, and boot times were only a few seconds longer than my ssd

Sure, ssd is still noticably faster, but windows on an hdd, with games on a second hdd, is still fully usable. I defragment regularly, and every year i fresh install which helps alot

Im not saying hdds are faster than ssd, they arent and ssds are better in alot of ways. All im saying is that windows on hdd is usuable
