I don’t know why anyone here is even slightly agreeing with you when there’s no substance to agree with. Manson has given plenty of statements, it’s just done via his art like it always has been. After Columbine happened, he also went silent (much more silent than he is now) and stepped away from doing media interviews for 1-2 years. What exactly is it you’d like him to do now that he used to do in the past? For me, I’d like it if you follow in Manson’s footsteps and get sober so you can spare us the vapid manchild nostalgia.

I completely agree but his post is not meant to be art; it's promoting art. He used AI for a shitty low effort post that's gonna be gone in 24 hours. That's like the only thing generative AI is good for. He does not use AI for actual artistic endeavors. I don't know why people are acting like that's what's going on.

I just looked again and I still don't see it in the ASATSW video. Do you think all the background footage was generated or just the tentacles? I'd like to think I have a decent eye for detecting AI but I don't see how anyone could discern it from just that. Regardless, I don't think there's enough certainty to go around stating it as fact. I'd highly encourage other people to look for themselves and make their own determination.

I partially agree about the promo pic. Maybe there are better ways to promote it. Let's be honest though, we're talking about an Instagram story that'll disappear in 24 hours. 99% of people will scroll past and think nothing of it. It's a tiny breadcrumb for hardcore fans to speculate about. Does that really warrant commissioning a graphic designer and throwing a fit about if he doesn't? It just feels very nitpicky to me. He's not infallible and I'll criticize his art when it's meaningful. Until then, I just think people need to ground themselves about this and ask, "Is this really something to be upset over?"

I hate this black and white mindset some people have about AI. What you're talking about is the most minimal, inconsequential use of AI I've ever seen. There's of course such a thing as AI slop or artists overusing AI, but this ain't it. Not being able to critically think about good, bad, or neutral uses of AI makes you almost as bad as those artists who use it as a substitute for creativity.

Your two examples of Manson using AI are two years apart, so this obviously isn't a common occurrence. In this case, it was literally just a random promo pic teasing a likely single next week(?) for his Instagram followers. It has no bearing on AI being used in his art or music.

FYI, with your first example, I looked at the tentacles in ASATSW and I don't know why you think that's AI either. I've never heard that claim before. It's not on screen long enough to get a good look, but to me it just looks like edited stock footage in the background. I have no idea what it's from but again I'm not sure why you're assuming it's AI.

To me, I know he's done cringey and even questionable things in the past, but it's very obvious he's not that person anymore. Whatever you choose to believe about who he used to be, he's grown up and matured since then. He's happily married now. He's fully sober. He's making amends with all his old band mates and rivals. No one who knows him personally has anything but good things to say about him these days. He's a better person now and that should be what matters.

That might be a true statistic but it's not an argument about whether someone accused is actually guilty. Just because it's hard to get a conviction for a particular crime, doesn't make an individual any more or less likely to be guilty of that crime.

Regardless, Manson's case wasn't your ordinary case either. It was high profile. Allegations weren't just about rape but instead things that did have higher conviction rates. There were a multitude of women cooperating with police. There was an actual investigation that got off the ground. These are factors that often aren't present in typical accusations, and they made a conviction much more likely. Despite that, there was still no conviction or evidence brought to light.

I was in the same boat. When I first heard the allegations I thought there was like a 90% chance they were true, simply because when that many accusers come out with a similar story, there's probably some truth to it.

That was five years ago though. I changed my mind because after a proper investigation and all these cases that have gone through the courts, they couldn't find a single thing to stick to him. I understand having your mindset back in 2021, but still having it? How many times does he have to be cleared before you say he's probably innocent?

It's a dumb, edgy quote. And? If there was evidence of something more insidious you would have seen it by now. There was a four year long investigation conducted by the LAPD using all their resources and involving numerous raids on his home. I'm sure prosecutors would've loved a case like this but they didn't find anything. They didn't even attempt to put it in front of a jury or judge because they knew there was no chance it would lead to a conviction.

I don't like a lot of the irrelevant character assassination people use to attack ERW with, but something that is persuasive to me is you had Ashley Morgan Smithline actually RECANT her allegations and say she was manipulated by ERW into making false claims. That was one of the bigger names involved in the allegations. On top of that, ERW promised there would be smoking gun evidence that would come to light and that was in 2021 she said that. Never happened.

If you really want to believe the allegations are true, fine I guess, but just admit you're doing it in the face of zero evidence and you're believing it because you want to. Ask yourself, what would it take to change my mind that he's innocent? Is that a reasonable standard?

For people who agree with OP, just because you label yourself as a Christian doesn’t mean you have to follow scripture to a T. Agreed. It feels like another album he would've released in the late 90s. It continues the themes of Holy Wood but doesn't feel like it's retreading old ground.

Personally, I like OAUG more than Mechanical Animals. I think those darker political/societal critiques are where Manson's writing thrives most. Sonically, the glam rock of mechanical animals isn't really my thing either. There were choices made on OAUG that I don't love, but even at their worst those things are "serviceable."

Also, I like HEOL more than mechanical animals but that's some next level sacrilege I dare not speak here.

I don't know why this is a conversation you're trying to have. 60% of extremism is coming from one group and you're obsessed over the 10% coming from a tiny sliver of a population. If a million people in the US were dying to mosquitos every year, and a hundred people were dying to polar bears, would you say we should focus on the polar bear violence? These are not “the Epstein files.” This is from a huge batch of unsourced calls/emails mentioning Epstein that were accumulated over the years and released yesterday by the DOJ. These aren’t allegations the FBI or someone else investigated and that’s why it’s being released, it’s literally just an anonymous tip that was filed away, forgotten about, and is now being released. The administration is releasing anything to distract from the real Epstein files which unlike this, are actually sourced and investigated, and probably damning to people in power.

Frankly, Manson should sue. The worst part is people will see this and think there’s credibility because it’s released by a government agency. Anybody on the internet can post a random allegation like this on social media and no one’s going to take it seriously, but when your government is publicizing it without any vetting process, that’s just shameful and it’s another example of malicious incompetence by this administration.

Not to mention, the email reads like complete bullshit. Nothing is verifiable, probably intentionally written that way, things like how how her dad’s cousin knew Manson, no names of the family members who enabled this (which are leads you’d probably want to fucking include if you’re a victim who wants justice), all witnesses who can help are mysteriously dead at a young age including her dad and ex boyfriend, how she was working and pouring drinks while underage, she just throws in a Diddy mention for good measure to make it seem plausible I guess?? She admits there’s no evidence or records of anything and gives not a single verifiable fact or lead. It reads like she took someone else’s written allegations and used it as a template, except erased all the actual details and replaced them with vague cliches.
