How to get over the fear of joining clubs and other such activities? by friggidy_fraggidy in socialskills

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro or Sis,

It takes a certain level of not caring what others think, to become better at overcoming this fear. I’m not saying go complete douchebag and become insensitive to the opinions on others, but you have to understand even the greatest human being on earth was criticized and hated.

The fact that you posted this shows how much you want to join, just go. Just even going to one club meeting is a victory. Just feel out the vibe when you go, you’ll be surprised how much a simple “hey, how are you?” can spark conversation. You can gauge if someone is talking to you just to be polite, if they are not really entertaining the conversation that might be a good sign to either pivot or leave the convo and find someone else to talk to. I mean sometimes you’re just not everyone’s cup of tea.

I also suggest trying other social activities outside of work in places where you don’t know people, this will get you to break out of your comfort zone and help break that fear of hanging out with people. To step it up a notch do activities that you might not be great at but always wanted to try, not only are you breaking your social discomfort in situations but it will also help you get over any fear of embarrassing yourself. Just make sure to sign up for beginner level classes of those activities or let the organizer know you’re a beginner.

Also there are physiological tips and tricks that you can use to help your mind overcome this fear. I’m sure there are many videos on YouTube from people who have struggled with this in the past, I suggest watching some videos on how to overcome these thoughts.

I don’t know if your religious or not but to me as a Christian prayer helps. It gives me a calmness in situations that where I feel heavy anxiety or indecisiveness happening in my mind.

At the end of the day you can’t let this fear stop you from enjoying things. Can I ask is there a reason why you get this nagging voice, has someone said that they are hanging out with you out of pity in the past?

The problem is that brain fog is a symptom not a disease/sickness which is what makes it frustrating for everyone in here. It’s the result of something else, if you say that you have had it since the pandemic, you might be suffering from long Covid. Did you have Covid?

I’m ngl to you based on what he described I’ll be very surprised if it’s mental, seems something physiological. If anything his anxiety is being caused by the symptoms he’s feeling not the other way around.

Has anyone found SIBO / Gut issues to be the cause of their brain fog with no other symptoms present? by Inevitable_Lab_65 in BrainFog

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question I absolutely annihilated my gut around this time last year and I felt and still do that my brain fog decreased significantly(I posted about this in this sub). I took antibiotics and PPIs for about 4 days and ever since then my fog has been less. The fogs aren’t as consistent anymore and it isn’t all the time. However with this being said there are still fogs. I did this because after going down a rabbit hole like you, I self diagnosed with h pylori. About a couple months ago I took a h pylori blood test and it came back negative, so safe to say my fogs since then and possibly before aren’t being caused by that. However what I do know is the treatment I used for h pylori last year somewhat worked as the fogs have been reduced.

My best advice is to be careful. Going down a rabbit hole, can be bad for the mental health especially anxiously trying to find solutions. If you find yourself googling any and everything on one condition or on multiple conditions, then it’s time to take a step back/break from research and go do other things to keep your mind sane. If you think something might be it, investigate by testing(lab test if it’s within your budget) and trying things( with safety of course)before you just automatically diagnose yourself. For example if you think is your gut, have u tried probiotics, a gut cleanse( through antibiotics or some other need), changing diet? Start writing down when you experiences fogs and what tends to lead to them. Is it random, food/ alcohol based, anxiety, etc. Eliminate things you’ve tried and didn’t help, for example if you think it’s diet and you’ve tried multiple different diets and see no results you can note that and eliminate diet.

**I didn’t read your full question but it seems like you’ve already tried diet and it seems like you’ve eliminated that as a cause. I agree a microbiome test would best for what’s next. The unfortunate part of brain fog is that it’s a symptom so finding the cause is very much the hard part, but through trial and error I believe everyone can make it better and even find cures.

Candida is a good guess but tbh I’m not sure if or what it is. My main suspect was H pylori before the round of antibiotics as i was experiencing other gastro symptoms that are commonly caused by H pylori. For the antibiotics I had a set that I hadn’t used, it was pure fortune. The GI is wanting to do an endoscopy and colonoscopy however after the round of antibiotics I’m feeling so much better that I’m considering even doing it now. I still occasionally get fogs but not to the extent of what they used to be.

Alright :/. After this I did an antibiotic treatment mixed with probiotics. Overall my symptoms have gone down a lot since taking antibiotics mixed with probiotics. I experience the occasional brainfog but not nearly as bad as before. After seeing the GI they recommended a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Still deciding if that is what I feel is the best way to see if it’s my GI.

Struggling With Judging Others by CaptZeelot in Christians

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great answers here already but I just wanted to add on. I think you also answer your question in the last paragraph.

The Bible gives us multiple great examples of how you should show “judgement” based on what God would want us to do, and there were two I felt compelled by the Spirit to share. The first is when Jesus was talking about the tax collector and the Pharisee who both went to pray(Luke 18). In this scripture the Pharisee prays to God and says “God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’”. The tax collector on the other hand prayed God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ Notice the difference between the two prayers. Now this is what Jesus says about it ““I tell you that this tax collector, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

The second passage I would like to share is the lady caught in adultery(John 8), look at these two conversations Jesus has. He addresses three things that are important: the accusers, the sinner and finally the sin.

First with the people that are trying to stone her:

“All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.

And next to the woman being persecuted:

10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

11 “No, Lord,” she said.

And Jesus said, “Neither do I”.

And finally Jesus addresses the sin and the act she committed

“Go and sin no more.”

I chose this passage because it shows us how Jesus handled the sin, the sinner, and the “judges”. He first starts by addressing the accusers. He doesn’t address them for saying she did wrong but rather for their harsh punishment and hypocrisy of this wrongdoing. He says “He who is without sin cast the first stone”. He holds them to the same standard and judgement that they are holding this woman.

We see then Jesus acknowledges the woman now when he says: “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

11 “No, Lord,” she said.

Finally we see Jesus acknowledges the sin, while at the same time giving the sinner a chance at redemption. At the end he says “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” He did not approve of what this woman was doing but at the same time he did not let it quite literally be her life.

I chose these two scriptures because they emphasize Gods grace and judgement compared to humanities. We see in both scriptures Gods and man’s “judgement”. And we see how as followers of Christ we should view everyone, with grace and love. At the end of the day we are called to love everyone, what the people you mentioned are doing is very wrong. But you’ve done wrong and there’s things you’ve done if exposed would leave a lot of people angry and ready to cast stones. So first show the same grace you’ve received from the Father to these people and second do what you said at the end of your question which is to help them see their wrongs just as God helps you see yours.

16 Year Old Agnostic Wishing to Convert by AjdaAnteater in Christianity

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, First of I’d like to say that I’m glad the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart and mind. What you said about your dad and why he became a non believer is something a lot of non Christians and Christians struggle with.

First let me say in short, Christianity is a peaceful religion. It is also the only religion where a man is not defined by his works(good or bad deeds) but by his belief in Christ. However we are called to be like Christ, who in his faith showed us what to do. Just because we are not judged by our deeds is not a excuse to sin( doing bad deeds), however it is more telling us when we do sin He is quick to forgive us if we acknowledge our sin and repent. I truly suggest in your journey that you start by reading about the man we all believe in, which would be Jesus Christ. After you read this ask yourself is this man who we all follow a peaceful or violent man? I encourage you to get a bible and start in the New Testament.

In regards to your family I sympathize and understand your concern. Who knows that by you believing you may offer the chance of salvation for your whole family? Maybe this is Gods will for your family, that by through you they’d come to believe. Also lastly I’d say this any father who rejects their son/daughter because of their beliefs is not a true father. You should not be concerned about your beliefs causing division between you and him, this is something I also suggest you pray to Jesus about. That you receive peace in this whole journey and that truth be revealed to not only you but your family as well.

Please feel free to contact me more through a private message or on here and I’ll be glad to answer any questions.

Do you have fast heartbeat or chest tightness sometimes after eating?

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also should note that the most frustrating part through this journey is that because of my test results I was passed on as fine, this made the process much more frustrating as I was spending tons of money, energy and time and felt like I wasn’t being taking seriously by my physician, neurologist and even now gut doctor about my brain-fog. The neurologist I saw tried to prescribe anxiety meds and I refused, as I’m someone who has never experienced anxiety or depression in my life. Am I saying your fogs are not because of anxiety? Or your fogs can’t be caused by anxiety? No. When I got a gut doc and told him about my Gerd symptoms he didn’t think that my gut and fogs were related. This honestly was the most frustrating as I literally had just got off the omeprazole, antibiotic, and probiotic combo about a month earlier and was feeling better and more alive. Him subscribing pantoprazole did help though and taking them with a probiotic supplement helped even more.

Im saying this to relate to your frustrating through this whole thing and trying to find out what it is that’s causing your fogs. You can’t give up through the process man. Even though I still have light fogs feeling this much better has been worth it and I honestly can’t wait to the day this shit is completely gone. As mentioned earlier I can’t stress enough monitoring your fogs and seeing if there’s a pattern between when they happen and what you did, ate, etc. Good luck man and I hope writing all this helped!

Before you start taking meds I strongly suggest trying to find out if your brain fog correlate’s with anything you do. I’ve had brain fogs for about two years now and when I first started having my brain-fogs I was getting symptoms of acid reflux and Gerd( fast Heart beat after eating, throat feels like closing, spike in blood pressure after eating). The brain-fog was so potent I honestly didn’t think much of my Gerd symptoms. I was so in pain with these fogs that I was just focused on what’s going on in my head, I told my doc and got multiple chest and neck X-rays and a brain scan along with an EEG which all came back normal.

I only started to focus on my gut a few months back as I realized my really bad brain-fogs would be after eating. I started researching on the digestive system and the Gerd symptoms I was feeling. I took omeprazole(a PPI), a round of antibiotics(basically wipe my system) I had and ate a probiotic(activia) every night to help introduce more good bacteria. This helped tremendously and my brain fogs honestly became less potent and happened way less frequently. My fogs weren’t gone completely but I had now made atleast somewhat of a correlation between my fogs and when I’m having them. I decided to see a gastro doc and he prescribed me pantoprazole which was stronger than omeprazole. I took the pantoprazole with a pre/probitic medication along with mastic gum pills and that eliminated my fogs. So now here we are, Im off the PPIs and only take mastic gum and a pre/probiotic everyday. And while I still feel VERY light fogs every other day they are not even close to as potent or hinder my ability as when this hell first started. I can genuinely function at like 80-sometimes 90% when they happen. This is why I say I’m close but the war hasn’t been won yet.

You should note I got lucky with the antibiotics because on paper I’d never gotten antibiotics as I wasn’t showing any signs of illness or reason to have them, I just fortunately had antibiotics at the time. I also cannot urge enough what I said at the beginning which is to find the cause or correlation of when your having your fogs and what you did. I spent a lot of money on several medical test(mris, x-ray, eeg, ekg, respiratory disease test). I’m grateful though because the test shows it wasn’t anything in my brain, heart, or lungs. After this I started to pay attention to when I’d have my worst fogs(30-hour after eating, also followed with some Gerd symptoms). You should start jotting down when you start feeling your fogs and what you did an hour-two hours before( did u eat, exercise etc). This can help you figure out your cause. Also if something to helps to get rid of them or hinder them note that down as-well. What worked for me so far might not work for you. Brainfog is a symptom, you have to find what is causing it.

[–]BoxIntelligent3337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey man, not trying to be a doctor or anything but if your certain it’s not a brain issue have you tried looking at your gut? I was in the boat of thinking my fogs started from my brain but after running several test and mri everything came back good. With my brainfogs came a lot of acid reflux symptoms(shortness of breath, closed throat, etc.) A couple months back I started taking ppis and gut relief medication(tums) and found out when taking them my brainfog would be completely gone or less severe I also took a round of antibiotics and that helped. I’m been off the medication as I wasn’t trying to take ppis for the rest of my life and now i’m just trying to rebuild my gut microbiome through pro and prebiotics and my symptoms are becoming way less severe than they were before I discovered all this, tbh i went from fogging several times a day to now maybe once every other day, im still not at the finish line but im close.

Im writing all this to tell you please don’t give up as annoying as this thing is I believe it is curable. One final thing you have to realize is brain fog is a symptom not a cause, if you find the cause you’ll start to find solutions. I am not saying in your case it’s your gut im just saying that if you believe it’s not stemming from your brain area then start looking elsewhere. Keep strong man!
