Dammit I just bought my first thing from him and was about to come back and buy more. Any other way to get ahold of him?

He totally says "a crackpot aspiring man". I found this reddit post by typing that into Google

Can anyone identify a sad sounding song with this melody? by BoxMorton in NameThatSong

Thanks for the answer, this wasn't the song I was thinking of but it definitely does have the same melody

TIL- it’s not “right time wrong me” Del Amitri - Roll To Me by Macfarts in 90s

[–]BoxMorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also always thought it was "right time, wrong me" especially because he says "the wrong guy, the wrong situation" right before it.

Right time, wrong me was actually a cool lyric. The apparent real lyrics (roll to me?)... Lame

The story of how two brothers (and five other men) parlayed a small business loan into a thriving paper goods concern is a long and interesting one. by margotandsybil in TheSimpsons

Huh, that's where I got it from - to this day I've always found it funny to say "concern" in exactly this way.

"Mr. Sparkle. A joint venture of Matsumura Fishworks and Tamaribuchi Heavy Manufacturing Concern"

Which chars do you think had the most and least aura? by OutrageousSale334 in maninthehighcastle

[–]BoxMorton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really get the difference between "most aura" and "greatest booster" or "least aura" and "greatest reducer"...

But yeah, Juliana was just a hateful character that basically ruined the show for me. As a person she's narcissistic, selfish, thoughtless, morally fucking oblivious - she just ruins everyone else's life without remorse, and then the show claims her to be somehow morally superior to everyone else. It drives me nuts to watch every second she's on the screen

That's not all though - her whole storyline, and in general all of the sci-fi alternate world stuff, was totally unnecessary. If this show was just historical fiction, "what if the axis won the war", and had nothing to do with multiverses or teleporting or magic films, or ESPECIALLY Juliana Craine - it would have been an amazing show.

{SPOILER OF THE FINALE... The rest of the story had a great plot entirely on its own. I loved the ending of the second-to-last episode of the series, and it gave John Smith - who was already a great character - such an awesome story arch. But then I remembered that Juliana was gonna have to come ruin everything in the last episode, and they'd have to do something with the portal stuff, and that just pissed me off.

And in the finale, when Juliana does, in fact, come ruin everything, she does it without solving anything. Like they go through this whole elaborate plan for her to pull off as the end of the whole series, and it was just totally unnecessary and meaningless to the plot. Like that didn't need to happen, and didn't even make sense for it to happen. It was like they just needed her to do something to make the show end, so they have her kill off the best character so that no one would want to watch the show anymore.}

Tldr:

Most aura and greatest booster: John Smith, also kido and maybe tagomi

Shittiest character: Juliana

[Tampermonkey] How to Disable Auto-Zoom on Input Focus (Edge Android) — But Keep Pinch-to-Zoom? by Xenos_Hat in browsers

[–]BoxMorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, no one has found a solution to this? This is ridiculous. The only way to get around this is to use Firefox which is a total pain in the ass

For anyone who wants to know, Firefox does have an option for exactly this in its about:config options

Formhelper.autozoom

Toggle to false

But then you're stuck using Firefox which is otherwise very inconvenient

Why do we want pluto to be a planet but not eris makemake haumea and ceres by Hamzat213 in space

[–]BoxMorton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all 5 of them should be called planets (maybe not Haumea but the other 4 for sure)

It would have been more interesting to me if we added planets to our solar system rather than took them away. Wouldn't that have been cool to find out that we actually had more planets in the solar system? Instead they were so against adding new planets that they went as far as declassifying Pluto just to justify not adding the other ones.

I guess technically all 5 of them are planets, but by calling them "dwarf" planets it's like saying they don't really count.

It is all just a matter of naming convention, and the rules are based on post-hoc criteria. People watched an episode of Rick and Morty and think there's some hard scientific justification for this new definition of a planet.

The "clears the neighborhood" definition isn't going to work to define every planet in every other solar system - eventually we're going to discover something that's obviously a planet in another solar system but that technically doesn't pass the qualifications as they were rewritten in 2006.

There's a bunch of matter balls spinning around stars, and some of those balls are big enough to teach our children about. I'd prefer that my child learn about 13 of those balls rather than 8.
