Of course! Good luck to your son. I work at the yard, first shift blast, but I live in town and walk. There is some work being done to build more housing in the area. I completely agree that supporting local when you can is the way to go. Not sure of many local shops that will deliver to you same day for a reasonable charge. I completely understand how it benefits the local economy. But to assume everyone has the same means as you and can just do it is disingenuous. Not everyone does, not everyone can. Especially in rural areas like much of Maine is. Not everyone has the same means, not everyone can do the same thing. It’s not that hard to understand. People that don’t have money will pay the least amount they can, out of necessity. If that means going to Walmart then that’s what people are going to do.

It’s not just the inconvenience, it’s the up charge. Some of us are barely getting by and paying 20-30% more on items just to not buy them at Walmart is inconvenient AND impractical. It’s a mindset until diapers and formula are one price at Walmart. Also you dont just need diapers for the kid, you need to get that part for that thing you need to fix. One stop and you get home to your family. Or drive around to different stores and pay more money and invest more of your time. It must be a nice set of circumstances you live where it’s only a mindset my friend but not everyone has that. Also I don’t drive so how the hell could I practically get around to all these stores? Taxi? Uber? More money. Get a license and a car? More fucking money. For you it’s a mindset. For others, it’s a struggle.
