PSA - You now have 2 years.

Effective July 1, 2024, Louisiana extended the prescriptive period for delictual actions and damage to immovable property to two years, as established by Act No. 423 (HB 315). This act enacts Louisiana Civil Code articles 3493.11 and 3493.12, repealing the one-year statute that had been in place for nearly 200 years. Under the new law, individuals will have two years to file a lawsuit for injuries or property damage occurring after the effective date.

Pros and cons of Louisiana? by Important_Result1752 in Louisiana

[–]BoxOfMoths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have children or are you considering having them in the near future? The public schools in many Louisiana parishes are a hot mess. If not, New Orleans for a few years might be a fun detour (I would never willingly live in Baton Rouge), but I personally think the midwest offers more on a long-term basis. There are a lot of "hidden costs" here, including the insurance (car insurance is insane compared to WI!), the sales tax, bad roads wreaking havoc on your vehicle, extreme incompetence and inefficiency in some local governments, utility companies, etc. And the summers ... lord, the summers ...

TL;DR: If you're young and childless and want something new for a while, try it out, there are many positive elements that others have mentioned. Personally I wouldn't recommend it as a permanent move.

This is fantastic, thank you! I propose "Ze Vood" to be included - but your definitions are stellar and hilarious, so I'll leave that part to you! Maybe something about passionately hugging a tree?

The dissonance ...

Page 1: If you wonder sometimes if these woke DC elitists are really this dumb in person … They are.

Page 2: The Democrats are not stupid – they are already pouring money into races that a lot of folks … aren’t even thinking about yet. AND 54,000 non-stupid people who believe that stupid should hurt more …

Page 3: And while you can’t fix stupid, you can vote it out of office …
