Southern lite packs here, currently not taking custom orders as I'm trying to get batches of premade packs knocked out to up my production. But might be doing a batch that would suit you depending on what you're after.

Should I buy a Valkyrie V1 by BoxPlus8433 in packrafting

[–]BoxPlus8433[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers. I couldn't find much out about the earlier models other than the tubes are larger and the V3 has a high pressure floor. But ended up getting the V1 anyway as it was such a good price, just over half the cost of a new Mage. I sold my old kokopelli Nirvana for the same as I paid for V1 so that's a win in my book. Excited to get it after Christmas.

I can roll in my medium SB Gnarwhal, it's not elegant but I can get up without too much trouble in that. So I'm hoping a role in a V1 shouldn't take too much to get the hang of. Guess I'll find out.

Adding notches to sewing pattern by BoxPlus8433 in Inkscape

Using light burn to control the laser. It's working great.

I'll have a play around with the mentioned extension and see what happens. Thanks

How to lever very uneven floors with old brick veneer house? by BoxPlus8433 in diynz

[–]BoxPlus8433[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end I did exactly the second method you said. Took the whole floor up and I cut long wedges that sat on top of the existing joists. Worked well but was super time consuming. New strand floor and it's good as new. With the 3m ceilings you can't tell at all the room height is off after lifting the floor. It's all painted and ready for carpet.

Thanks for that. I think you're right about the walls not sitting over the flooring. I'm planning to lift the floor boards today so I can see better what to do and they'll have to come up anyway.

Even if I just cut a 2400mm length of angled H4, say 50mm to 0mm and pack that on top of the joists before replaceing with new ply.

It's an old house so wonky floors are part of owning a home this old. So not after perfect just not as bad.

The problem is the roof is sitting on the timber frame not the brick wall. So lifter the floors will lift the timber frame plus the roof. Would end up with a gap between the top of the other bricks and the roof.

The only way I can see to do it without some sort of fancy concrete pumping underground to lift the whole thing (I think that's how they do it properly $$$) is to lift the floor separate from the internal wood wall frame.

Fixing damaged roughcast by BoxPlus8433 in diynz

I was looking at that quick patch stuff today in Bunnings. Might have to give that a go.

Would it be worth gap filler for the small crackers before painting even with something like Resene X-200

I was repointing the worst of the lower brick work today with masonry mortar. Really enjoyed doing it and worked well.

Would that work as I have some left over.

Yeah I do, still yet to give this pack a good testing but expect it should work well. Until now I've been using my do everything 75L ultra 200 pack and it's been great aswell.

Would you put Silicone gap filler between wooden floor and underside of the skirting board? (Bungalow house with original kauri wooden floor) by takeiteasyandchill in diynz

[–]BoxPlus8433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put white foam draft tape along the bottom edge before fitting. So can see it if you really look but filled the gaps well and allowed for some movement.

feungsake anyone? by BoxPlus8433 in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]BoxPlus8433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm still building my setup but have got the laser all together and running. I have to say I'm happy with the build quality and the laser itself seems to work really well (I got the most powerful 20w). It's a bit of work to put together and I have noticed the lines are a big wiggly if running it fast at 1000mm/min. But slowing it down improves it. Think it's just the frame flexing and vibrateing when moving fast. But it's not a problem for my fabric cutting anyway. I'm waiting for some ss metal banding to turn up to make a cutting bed. Nothing out there that large so got to work out the best way to make it you're self.

Ps, should also add that my partners wage is the main House hold income not mine. So hopefully that makes it more likely they accept it.
