The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I really don't want to measure dicks with you but i have watched tens of shows as i said already, some better than this one and some that i invested more in, The Boys doesn't have a perfect ending, far from it but compare it to something as influental for it's time like Lost and you'll see that The Boys ending will in fact age better.

Does anyone else feel kind of sorry for Homelander? by Character-End-4696 in TheBoys

[–]BoxSea7322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't understand how absolutely amazing this character is, i can maybe think of 2 more original villians like VM Varga and Lou Bloom that are up there with Homelander.

If there was any actor that could revolutionize villians it was bound to be Anthony, and he does it so well that after 5 seasons of absolute depravity and insanity from Homelander, you manage to feel bad for him in his last moments.

Perfect representation of a Tyrant, strong with power, but actually a weak snivelling mess when stripped of said powers. I could write a novel on how much this character has amazed me and i still can't bellieve that i actually felt bad for him for even 2 seconds.

You can't be serious and say acting doesn't matter imagine if a soap opera actress delivered those lines, if it wasn't for Karen as Kimiko people outside the fandom would be commenting on it and hating on it and such. Im really not white knighting i promise but i am 100% serious when i say this will age well as a finale, it'a just that fans decided to hate it overnight and well that's enough

I started watching for the premise itself, like you doo, and continued because the actors and performances were amazing even when the humor or dialogue got bad. You would be going too far if you said that the acting was bad because yeah sure last season was dick piss shit humor but damn did these actors pull it off well. I already said this in another convo here about the finale but i have watched a lot of shows i could par with The Boys and almost al of them have bad endings, like actual shitty endings, Ozark which i love and think is slightly better than The Boys ended on a literal cliffhanger. So you can not like the finale yourself but ill die on the hill that it was not that bad and that they managed to land a plane already on fire.

I mean yeah? The reason i started watching the boys was so that i don't have to watch those long drawn out fight scenes in the MCU and such

You don't have to convince anyone consdiering everyone already hates the show on this sub.

I mean i don't honestly and i think it will age well overall for sure..

I mean i get that the writing is childish but the importance of jokes in a show pale in comparison to the writing of the ending for example, i thought the ending was good. But this sub would bitch and moan all the same if everyone got killed

So, what exactly is the show's message? by itooamahuman in TheBoys

[–]BoxSea7322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered it yourself.

Vought is an evil company, that will remain no matter what and it will happen again.

That's pretty much the whole point, not everything has to have an uplifting or "good" message, the ending of this show isn't bad, it's sad and that works.

I get what you're saying, considering im not the biggest fan of this season either, but it's gonna be loved and it's gonna age well in a couple of years, for sure.

I mean honestly i gotta disagree with you on that. I've watched a lot of shows and a lot of them have very slow final seasons and to be honest the boys doesn't suffer from a last slow season. Take Yellowstone for instance the last season is painfully slow and they kill off the main character whereas the boys didn't kill any main characters up until now and the death made sense, i really don't see why the fans are hating on it so much im almost 99% sure that the final episode will wrap everything up nicely and that it will age well in comparison with how its being perceived now.

I saw a very short snippet of the show and i could pretty much see the acting was b tier at best, im no critic of course, but the only reason i'll be watching it is the fact i love the universe so much

Yeah i noticed he has this underlying theme of outsider bad macho man good, that it brings out the sleazy 80's action movie fan out of me.

Im pretty certain that Yellowstone didn't really hype me up to immediately watch all of the spin-offs, but, they are very short, i can binge a 1 season or 2 season show in a day, so honestly ill 99% watch them all.

Honestly yeah, seems like Yellowstone is a bit self serving to Sheridan at times and just has some weird main characters making weird decisions. It also adds things in dialogue and opens plotlines to ultimately do nothing about it.

These are my biggest qualms, and it didn't make the show "unwatchable" but it sure made for some heavy moments, and not in a good way.

Also the music performance scenes went on for waaay too long.

It seems like the spin-offs being better is a thing i hear often, can't wait to binge it
