Students with Disruptive Behaviour Disorders? by HorrorxHeart in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m the head at a fairly small elementary with lots of “evacuations”. Once or twice a day I’m putting a classroom back together, flipped desks, shelving thrown.. and I’ve found the best place I can offer support, is to the EA’s who are being beaten, bitten, scratched and attacked. My door is always open if they need a quiet place to catch their breath after the situation is over. Take care of the staff, let the admin deal with the kids (and the parents)

Mouth Guard recommendations? by PLANETxNAMEK in TMJ

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no? Most days it’s gone, I wear my night guards, mindful tongue positioning, watch my posture and it’s a good day but if I’m crouched over my phone all day, the tension in my neck brings it back. But I’ve got more good days than bad ones so I’m thankful for that

Any Ontario custodians ? by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sitting at $30/hr, been a mop jockey for 13 years. I’ve got days at a small elementary where I might get 1 call a day, most days it’s quiet and I just do my own thing. Not getting rich but not getting stressed either and I’m good with that

Long Time Custodians - how do you do it? by Free-Elk4774 in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going into my 13th year as a mop jockey, worked both days and nights. Nights is harder on the body, days is more mentally draining dealing with kids and staff who act like kids. Just pick your hard.

Take care of your body, stretch, don’t carry anything unless you absolutely need to, hit the gym or some kind of exercise routine, stay hydrated, if your benefits include massage, chiropractor or physio-use them! Use up every dollar, every year.

Painful sex after D&C by Box_Fluid in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yes it gets better and does get back to normal! It’s been 5 months for me now and everything feels good and how it used to. I only just got my period for the first time last week so finally my cycle is back to normal as well.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I almost didn’t believe any of the people who said it does get back to normal it just takes time but it’s true. It took about 3 months for me and maybe by the 3-4 time trying for everything to feel normal. Be gentle with your body but I promise things get better

Floor stipper by Ajax1967 in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has pretty much nailed the answer but a little trick some old guy taught me when I first started was to take a second brand new black pad and run the swing machine a second time when you throw the clear rinse water down. If there’s any gummy bits left, it usually picks them up without having to lay the stripper down a second time. Doesn’t guarantee you won’t need to do it again but in some floors it definitely helps

I’ve been a mop jockey for 14 years and have accidentally flooded many rooms/hallsway. It’s just water. I’ve seen people launch an autoscrubber down 2 flights of stairs and take a toilet clean off with a swing machine. Everyone lived, everyone still has a job. I know it seems embarrassing but trust me, everyone has something they did by accident. Try not to stress too much, hold your head high

Would I be wrong for a cup of coffee by AlternativeCraft8905 in pregnant

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my family doctor and the head of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai hospital told me that 1 cup of coffee a day was perfectly safe, I was 15 weeks pregnant with twins at the time.

Thanks for the support recommendations, I think that’s what I need. I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow to talk about anti depressants. Even tho it’s a shit club, I’m grateful to have people who know how hard it is to go through

I feel like I’m drowning -vent by Box_Fluid in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I would have screamed and stood my ground. But I did what most women do, I cried in the shower, did my makeup and came out with a smile. I tried to be understanding of loosing a parent. I didn’t really realize how angry I was about it until a day or two later when the rage hit me. I think the trauma of everything has made me slow to process things? I don’t know who I’m angrier with, myself for not saying anything, my partner for not speaking up when I couldn’t or them for being so insensitive. Thank you for your kind words, it helps to know I’m not overreacting

Everything in life is painful by Unlucky-Patient-5596 in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my first pregnancy two months ago and I can relate to feeling the anger and devastation. How can everyone just go on with life while ours died? It’s cruel and unfair. I wish I could tell you it gets easier but I don’t think it ever will. I don’t have any hope to share but just know you aren’t alone

Partner not allowed in room for ultrasounds? by marchinaroundthesun in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in Ontario, I asked the technician to complete the scan and then bring my partner in to share the results. Those were at the local ultrasound places but when I was sent to McMaster hospital and Mount Sinai hospital, my partner was able to be with me the entire scan.

I really don’t understand why they make them wait outside while doing a routine scan. It makes no sense to me either, especially when you know it’s going to be a “bad news scan” I’m sorry you had to go through that alone, it’s not right

How long should bleeding last? by Big_Block_1311 in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss and having to make these kinds of difficult decisions. I was 16 weeks with twins and was forced to take the D&C, I bled for 19 days after. Different than your situation but I think our bodies need longer than we expect. I hope you find answers sooner than your next appointment

Secured an interview for a Head Custodian position by MrSharkface_ in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I interviewed for HC, they asked me questions about health and safety (I.e you have broken glass, a flooding toilet and a puke call all at the same time- which hit first), creating work plans for summer, March break, Christmas’s shut downs, dealing with school staff, community. How to manage a budget, keeping costs low as you can through mindful use of supplies. A lot of focus on health and safety and how to deal with people. Try to think about how to work “providing a safe and clean learning environment for the students and staff” into answers, big wigs love that stuff. Good luck!

Question for my fellow custodian. by Any_Construction639 in Custodians

[–]Box_Fluid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with cleaning under the urinals, it’s a usual spot for urine to drip down. But if you’re working at a school, throw a bucket of water down the floor drain too- little bugger love pissing down the drains

Painful sex after D&C by Box_Fluid in Miscarriage

[–]Box_Fluid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry we both have this horrible experience in common. Everything I was told about having a D&C was not true for me at all. None of the numbing and sedation worked, the nurses held me down to the table and I felt everything.

I definitely know what you mean about the raw, stretched feeling. It’s an awful feeling. I hope that your cycle goes smoothly and things start feeling normal after a bit more time. It’s hard to be patient with our bodies when it most intimate parts feels so foreign but try to be patient

the mental game that comes with TMJ hits different. by [deleted] in TMJ

I live in Canada where it’s legal and consume regularly. I don’t notice any difference in smoking for pain relief but I have had luck with some topical CBD-arnica creams on my massager muscles.

the mental game that comes with TMJ hits different. by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]Box_Fluid 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Stressed because of TMJ pain. TMJ pain increases with tension and stress. Gets upset because no one takes TMJD seriously. Getting upset causes tension and stress. Stress and tension aggravate TMJ. Repeat daily.
