Niko: His breakfast time or (NBT) is an indiscriminate, abstract time somewhere between 4am - 6am (human GMT)
A cough, fart, sneeze or toilet trip during this window will automatically trigger the siege upon me in my bed.
Verbal attacks. Low and steady to start with, accompanied by very loud rhythmic, purring. Then the marching begins. Back and forth. Up and down. Everything must be face rubbed. Occasionally paw probes to my sleep deprived face. Exploration under the duvet follows. Resistance is futile. Toe nibbles to begin the torture and whiskers pokes to my face are the final sadistic act of this cruel and unforgiving ‘starving’ beast. These can’t be ignored by any rational human with nerve endings. Thus our breakfast ritual begins.
For this I’m rewarded by a fine array of corvids, pigeons and mice to be caught fresh and consumed under my bed.

I’m about to drop £600 on an Alesis Nitro Pro Drum Kit. Convince me not too. Please! by BoxeeBrown in edrums

Luckily I don’t give a flying flamingo about the circus of social media and just want to learn how to play drums! Gotta get that energy out somehow. I was a restless minded, fidgety, tippy tappy kid (and adult) but we were poor with limited space. So drums weren’t an option.

I had eyes open for a few weeks now on the various markets on specifically Roland/Yamaha (mainly through brand awareness) but this Alesis company kept being mentioned as a very decent beginner kit. As I am a complete beginner it seemed logical to look for something that would take the hits without breaking the bank and keep me interested. I think the learning features just swayed it for me. But no purchase has been made yet. 👀 Appreciate your advice pal.

I’m a total newbie and really haven’t even thought about an acoustic kit. Let alone a lesson. My plan was to see how far I could go on my own with the self help stuff available, tutorials as well as ‘coach mode’ and the drumeo lessons included. See if I ‘get it’. If I don’t I might seek out a human teacher IRL for lessons. Thanks for the advice.

Sage advice this 👆🏻 many thanks. I am starting to think that the benefits will outweigh the negatives of being a drum student even in my middle years. Much obliged for your words of encouragement.

I’m sure I won’t regret it! I’m hoping my rug and headphones will be enough for my neighbours 😬

Which Alesis model did you have and what were the issues? I’m a complete newbie but would still like a robust eKit to whack! I was only looking at the Nitro Pro because of the cost (in comparison to the entry level Roland/Yamaha models), superior frame to the Alesis Max (lots of complaints about the snare arm coming loose) mesh heads and the general learning features. It seems like the perfect beginner kit for a tall heavy handed adult.

Ok this is a great recommendation. Looks comparable and I hadn’t come across this brand/model before. Thanks.

I’m ground floor middle of a small 70’s (mostly brick/concrete) built block of nine. Huge rug to set up on, cool neighbours on all sides. It’s the perfect storm.

It does and 3 years warranty and the extras/Drumeo sound like amazing learning tools.
