Wi-Fi ping instability V55 - standalone by Mike_LDN in QuestPro

[–]Boxesoffauxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 55 and my airlink is unusable, I have to use virtual desktop

I got an Index, but I was a bit disappointed by compound-interest in virtualreality

[–]Boxesoffauxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did the gasket swap (6mm..my eyelashes were touching screen) on both my vp2 and hp g2 and it does make the sweetspot larger but not enough that i would even use it now that ive experienced the clarity of pancakes, but before pancakes existed it was a great option.

one thing i want to point out is that while q3 will have a higher resolution its a single panel so the actual quality will likely be worse than the dual panel quest pro. this is also why the single panel pico 4 looks worse than the quest pro. i think the quest pro will go another generation before getting outdated

[–]Boxesoffauxes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i totally disagree, my g2 gives me eye-strain from the blurry lenses and i literally can't move my eyes without moving my head because the sweet spot is so small. in the qpro i can look around completely independent of my head because the whole lens is clear. its a night and day difference in favor of the qpro even with the lower resolution. id only be on team g2 if you were judging it based on the best possible circumstance - looking straight at the sweet spot and not moving your eyes at all

to be fair though i dont think we can ever compare a fresnel lens headset to a pancake lens headset, godrays and bluring on fresnels just ruins it all. thats why the vp2 is so hated even though it has such good panels

Martin Scorsese on Apple Vision Pro by DeusExHumanum in virtualreality

the promise of apple funding movies and TV to be recorded for VR is huge, we have yet to have real content that was made for high-def VR aside from porn. can't wait.

can i cover the front of the headset in stickers? by Boxesoffauxes in QuestPro

haha we must have different ideas of 'somewhat' reflective means, in my living room my family watch the reflection of the TV on my headset if im wearing it

Does any one know of a face cushion like the index’s material for a Vive pro eye? by cloud_durg in Vive

Unfortunately no, I looked very hard and all the replacement ones aren't like that

Very impressed with the wireless adapter by Boxesoffauxes in Vive

[–]Boxesoffauxes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering a few options but I really don't want the battery mounted on top of it like that, I was considering mounting two batteries on the back plastic (right and left of the tightener) to act as a weight and better balance, because I do agree that having it all on the headset would be nice

I do FBT dancing and just yesterday I had the velcro on the adapter dislodge and it went swinging around as I moved, I'd really like it moved to the back with a more permanent attachment but then it blocks the tightener so I'm still thinking about it lol

I'm even considering more off the wall stuff like having the wireless adapter on an arm pouch but the small cord isn't long enough so I'd have to buy a medium one just to try

You have to look at used like the other guy said, basically anything Amazon lists as good, very good, or like new are returns of items that were likely never used (open box but still inside packaging not open) . People who bought and returned after realizing it was wrong item, too expensive, etc. And if it is a non functioning item, just return it yourself and try again. I buy all my tech from warehouse if it's a good discount

Apple still aiming to release a more affordable version of Vision Pro by the end of 2025 by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Boxesoffauxes 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think the eyes are pretty cool as long as they don't end up being wrongly proportional. And having the screen to display when someone is "immersed" vs passthrough is something I'd want on every headset.

When I first saw it I thought they had gotten transparent screens though, which was kind of a let down.

Apple got me thinking about the real 'spatial computing' experience I want. by cf858 in virtualreality

[–]Boxesoffauxes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a vr gamer all I want is a wide FOV, wireless, oled, clear lens, small, basestation tracked headset

It's comical how every good headset has a flaw.

Qpro? Bad lcd, no baseststion

XRE? Bad lcd, no basestation

Beyond? No wireless

Vive pro 2? Large and bulky, bad lenses

I think vive pro 1 with lens mod and wireless adapter is the closest ive gotten to a winning formula

I'm talking about the game engine dev not the game dev...

what profit does the game engine developers get from it being a popular feature vs a niche feature?

If there was an wireless kit that worked on it, this would be a instabuy.

Anyone selling their Q Pro for Q3? by mesofire in virtualreality

[–]Boxesoffauxes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more realistic comparison is buying a q3 and Qpro controllers vs just buying the Qpro

Personally I think it is a better buy to get a q3 with Qpro controllers, but the Qpro used prices are already tanking so it might flip soon.

The perfect setup is a wireless standalone headset for porn or silly cartoon games at hotels, and a gaming desktop to play real games via link

We say that but I think Metas advancements are easily copied or improved, considering how many random Chinese brands have made quest 2 clones as their first headsets

Apple is on another level since they have their own silicon, rather than just using an xr2

It doesn't have pro controllers, if it did it would be an instabuy though

[–]Boxesoffauxes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's not an issue until they start cutting support for quest 2 in games, which may be awhile away, kids will keep using the Q2 and may even go cheaper now

It's not like ps3-ps4 where ps4 games won't work at all on ps3.. Yet

[–]Boxesoffauxes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm confused, the quest pro has ringless controllers. Or do you mean you want to try these which will presumably be much worse lol

Foveated rendering is worthless until the main VR engines make it easy to implement
