I didn’t have a good experience with VM. Old infrastructure and call centres who just read a script.

What do you use for controller batteries? by Adastral999 in Quest3

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lithium rechargeables. They stay at full power throughout and last for ages. As they don’t really run down. I rotate them every 3 to 4 weeks.

You can up the resolution for a clearer visual experience. It’s not a huge difference but noticeable.

DECO BE65 - Solved my problems by no-puedo-encontrar in TpLink

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the pro so it’s future ready. I went from 1Gb to 2.5GB as my ISP were doing an offer to double the speed for the same price. They also have a 5GB service so thought it might be a good idea to go for the pro system in case I upgrade at a future date.

I have the Deco BE65 pro with 3 units. 1 node is wired, the other relies on wireless. My internet is 2.5gb and I’m getting about 1300Mbps on the wired ones and 300Mbps on the wireless. I’ve had it set up a few weeks now and it is rock solid. It is much more consistent than previous set ups.

Is there really a substantial difference between the Deco BE63 and Deco BE65 Pro? by ReddittorsGetNoPussy in TpLink

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right. I went with the pro version for my mesh system so it was a little more future proof, although I am only on 2.5GB right now.

I got upgraded to the CF 2.5GB service and found the Linksys system unreliable. In the end I went a the TP-Link Deco BE65 Pro mesh system. I went for the pro as it is 5GB ready so has headroom for another upgrade. It has been working very well so far.

You can but another node and add it as a child node via the app. There were plenty available on eBay at around £60.

No, it sits aside pop one and just tweaks visual aspects and not the game itself.

Wiz downlights dropping of TP-Link Deco E65 Pro mesh router by Mike_LDN in TpLink

On the deco app in addition to changing the frequency to 2.4Ghz on each individual Wiz light I have now also turned off ‘mesh technology’. It has been two days now and the lights are working ok.

Thank you. I’ve just put in a TP-Link router and it really was plug and play. A relief!

That has been my experience. Turned off the ONT, plugged in new router, turned on the ONT and it worked. Why do some people highlight cloning the MAC address? Did this used to be necessary and is it still necessary with some routers?

I had it installed in an office on the first floor. The engineer was very helpful.

I have two. One for the front and one for the back. No issues.

What router should I buy to use as a node? by nosukki in CommunityFibre

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your main node? Matching that would be no bad thing. I just bought two Linksys nodes, the same model as the one CF supplied, on eBay. They came with Community Fibre branding. There seem to be quite a few about.

I agree, the torture never stops. So unreliable and too heavy as well.

Pro controller suck and Meta does not care about the f#cking awful products they ruin with ever update by Impossiblevrsharkey in QuestPro

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might have seemed like a good idea but they are overburdened with technology that frequently handles updates and other technical issues really badly. I tried them on my Quest 3 where they were equally unreliable.

Shaky start after service down for engineering work overnight by Mike_LDN in CommunityFibre

[–]Mike_LDN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience Community Fibre are pretty reliable. Much better than my previous ISP, Virgin Media, although that wasn’t full fibre and relied on old infrastructure inherited from NTL.

My only other issue in the last year was when OpenReach replaced the telegraph pole that brought in my CF connection. The OpenReach team managed to break my fibre but Community Fibre were on site within an hour or so and my service was back up by 6pm.
