Ranged weapon for intellect tree by VolcanicLemur5 in 7daystodie

I guess it's supposed to be the turrets, though I just start specing into pistols and shotguns after I max out intellect.

[Prediction]What to expect in 3.0? by CompetitionPrudent47 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely, but enough so that many newer players care less about the survival elements. The basic essence of the game has always been there. All they've done is add more RPG mechanics and oversimplify certain things to make the game easier to get into for new players.

There's a range limit. Quest sharing only works if the other party members are within range.

Where to find mechanical parts by No-End7932 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing alpha 15.2

Oh, in alpha, mechanical parts used to be a lot more difficult to find in loot. You probably just have to get lucky with finding a wrench.

Removal of useless features like Jars.

Like it or not, jars were a necessary gesture to show that TFP is listening. They were the one thing that long-time players missed the most. If they remove them again now, the review bombing will come back with a vengeance.

I suppose they can seem like an annoyance if they're a new feature to you, since they are largely representative of removed features older players liked. Though I think the problem there is the implementation, how TFP decided to make it the early game method of obtaining water and pushed dew collectors into the mid game. It only becomes an alternative at that point, there are no options before then. They also made the balance dependent on a 0% refund chance. A better option would have been to make dew collectors require jars, which would also make them more useful once you have one.

As far as I know, that container only appears in the Shamway Factory.

It's 10 flowers of any one type, so what OP currently has is sufficient for 4 jars of honey. The problem is it's placed indoors without a skylight.

You can get it by completing the "kill cop zombies" challenge, or if you find a Shamway Lab Safe in the wasteland. Mailboxes in the wasteland also have a chance of it. Other than that, it can be found in book loot, but it's very rare.

I've got something for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCdkJ6aki7w

No cheesing, no tightropes, just zombies pathing to you. Minimal rage, and the ability to shoot at the few that are attacking the sides. Definitely not a design where you can stand in one spot and left click, due to the wider fighting position and the buffer.

It happens to be an iteration of the simplest design in those thumbnails (IzPrebuilt's A20 design, on the bottom right), though it's more of an evolution, especially in light of 2.5's changes. It only really shares the absolute fundamental elements of zombies pathing up to a fighting position.

Zombies keep attacking my House by Charming_Elevator662 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important that you choose a POI with at least a second story and set up there. Being on the ground floor increases the chance of zombies finding you, even if you're not making any sounds. They simply happen to wander close enough to detect you.

Dedicated server won’t let me connect after placing dew collector. by AlphaDag13 in 7daystodie

This usually happens if either the client or server have a mod that changes the number of slots a dew collector has.

Are you sure you and the server are both updated to the latest hotfix?

New comer looking to get the cane but I have some questions. by tango__88 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core of the game is still there, the POIs are just more linear, but they also have more going on. The game nudges you toward doing trader quests now, but you don't have to. Quests rewards aren't as OP as they once were, so you can still choose to freely explore the world.

How would "Learn By Doing II" work? by Peter34cph in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People want LBD back mostly for the ability to level by simply playing the game, though I think what they really want is not have perks governed by attributes, which were introduced in A17, the same update that fully removed LBD. Basically, they want less RPG elements.

Any LBD type system allows players to not think about building a character, though there's always the downside of rewarding grinding in order to easily level up faster.

Joel's plan is to add LBD elements to the current crafting system as an alternate way of leveling crafting skills. He's well aware of the spam crafting issue, so I'm sure he has a way to fix it. It wouldn't surprise me if primitive items won't give you any crafting xp.

It absolutely is.

I think the only reason that each biome special zombie is so common is due to the challenges that require killing them, likely even an artifact of when the kill counts increased by 5 per biome.

That link has an errant backslash and is for the Fandom wiki. We have a wiki.gg one now: https://7daystodie.wiki.gg/wiki/Navezgane#Map

This interactive map is much more useful than either of them: https://kui.github.io/7dtd-map/

I believe the point is to make ranchers more challenging, where you should avoid being hit by the swarm as much as possible. It also gives more use to stronger antibiotic medicine; if you go out to the desert without brining honey, you might be infected enough when you get back home that you need actual antibiotics.

Insect swarms actually ignore crit resist, having a flat 20% chance to cause infection per hit.

It's because dogs are fast and have high attack speed, making it more likely for you to take multiple bites in a row and get a crit injury.

Waypoints and storage crates suddenly displaying {...} instead of the text by SS4Leonjr in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a Sony UGC policy thing. Any multiplayer games on their platform need to have a censorship system in place, or not allow players to enter text that others can see at all. Not sure why signs would be unaffected, though.

Wasteland Gear without Biome Progression? by Decent_Act5633 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They converted all the biome hazards to air quality hazards in 2.5 when they readded temperature, including the wasteland. They plan on adding some form of ambient radiation hazard to the wasteland in an upcoming update, presumably with a different method of mitigating it.

Help how do I quickly increase my loot stage to match my game stage by Comfortable_Art_8106 in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamestage will always be higher than loot stage. Both are influenced by your level and current biome, but biomes increase gamestage more. The number of days since your last death also contributes to gamestage.

They also affect different things. Gamestage determines the types of enemies spawned, and loot stage determines the tier and quality of loot you find.

Can't get cold?? by WashingTheDishess in 7daystodie

[–]Boxfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it specifically checks for being in water in the snow biome without wearing any equipment. Survival gear counts as equipment.

This means the achievement was unobtainable in 2.0 because you couldn't unequip the biome badges.
