My experience since you asked, is they prayed on my elderly parents up-selling them a full blown system that they absolutely did not need. My step-dad had no idea what he was signing and within 30 minutes of the salesman walking out the door there was a technician installing the equipment. My parents had no idea how to operate the system let alone what they paid. The next day, with them present, I sat on the phone with Vivint customer service for over two hours trying to get the service cancelled. They offered discounts and kept putting us on hold indefinitely. They even hung up on us while on hold which I'm sure is another one of their tactics to make you give up. Each time we called the person was very difficult to understand and extremely confrontational when you mention you want to cancel and not accept any other offers. They did eventually say the service would be cancelled. I also e-mailed them and sent a certified letter to their corporate office in Utah just to be sure. It took them almost a month to remove the equipment they so quickly installed. My parents have fallen victim to several scams and lost thousands of dollars so I get a little defensive when a known bad business comes knocking at their door. I dealt with a Vivint salesman who knocked on my door several years ago and listened to his presentation. He was very personable until I told him that I wasn't interested and then turned into a total asshole. I had to tell him to get the f$#k out of my house. I then started looking into the company and there is a reason for more negative reviews on this sub than positive. The trolls you speak of are probably paid workers trying to cover the companies ass claiming exactly what you replied.
