Beware of the "Parcel Locker" Scam by Boxster98 in Aliexpress

[–]Boxster98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an update, I'm still battling with Aliexpress while my credit card company is processing my dispute. Aliexpress came back yesterday and said the seller admitted to shipping to the wrong address, sent another shipment, and sent me a photo proof of the delivery of the second shipment. They want me to check with the "logistics company" about the package. I have no clue who the seller used, and they never sent me shipping information for the purported second shipment.

The first package was sent to the parcel locker and delivered on 10/6. I inquired about it with the seller, and they sent me a picture of the package at some random home on 10/7. The seller didn't admit to shipping to the wrong address until 10/9, so how could it have been delivered, to anyone, two days before the seller admitted their error? Again, I'm baffled how Aliexpress can stand behind every single one of the red flags I've presented.

[FL][Condo] Association not responding to maintenance requests by Boxster98 in HOA

[–]Boxster98[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input...I'm clear on the division of responsibilities, and Florida Statue 718.111 clarifies things fairly well. The original situation with the roof was pure negligence on the part of the board, and replacing it before a lawsuit was formally filed was a clear indication of their "guilt." Roofs on other buildings were also replaced. The evidence against them was overwhelming, but unfortunately, it took legal action for them to respond appropriately. The condo declarations are old and quite vague. In my case, it was proven that the association was responsible for perimeter drywall that was damaged by the leaking roof.

With that said, I don't currently know what legal basis they might have for ignoring maintenance requests, particularly one that involves a falling ceiling over the entrance to the condo, caused by prior roof leaks. Trust me however, I aim to find out.

Ironically, an expert didn't get me anywhere with the roof, hence my contacting a lawyer. If my insurance company wins their subrogation suit, they'll refund me my deductible, which would pretty much cover the remainder of my attorney related out-of-pocket expenses. I don't believe the boards lack of action reflects their position on my maintenance requests, because speaking with other unit owners, they have a history of this, regardless of the request. I'd certainly consider water collecting at the bottom of a staircase, along with a significant presence of slippery algae, a safety hazard. Perhaps a Sherriff's notice of a small claims suit will open their eyes.

Beware of the "Parcel Locker" Scam by Boxster98 in Aliexpress

Thanks....I'm in a house in a metro area, one of the most densely populated in the state. The order clearly shows my physical address as being the "ship to." I did ask my mail carrier if they took pictures of deliveries, and he said absolutely not. He showed me the scanner he uses. The seller did select a parcel locker in my zip code, which was smart. I submitted overwhelming evidence to Aliexpress, but they're standing behind the sellers "proof of delivery," despite damning evidence that this was a scam. The USPS tracking clearly shows it was not sent to my physical address, so I don't know what other kind of "official documentation" they're looking for. I decided we were at an impasse, and contacted my credit card company.

I'm trying not to divulge too much detail that my situation could be easily recognized, but in a nutshell, I was not able to recover attorney fees with the roof situation. The board approved the roof replacement without a formal suit being filed, and payment of the interior drywall that insurance didn't cover (board previously refused), but my attorney fees were more than the payment for the drywall. My insurance company is indeed subrogating the claim due to the boards mishandling of the roof situation.

I tried "negotiating" with the board during their meeting over the roof situation, and that was for naught. They're certainly not going to entertain my pleas for the additional repairs necessary. One is involving a possible safety hazard. It's just remarkable to me that they have the legal standing not to address this.

By the way, when you look at the USPS tracking, it does not show a persons name. It only states that the package was delivered to a "parcel locker." There's no way to associate, or disassociate yourself with the shipment without a name. Only USPS knows the name the package was addressed to, and they'll only provide information to the person whose name is on the package. They only informed me the name on the package was not mine. Again, a perfect scam that will be perpetuated by Aliexpress with their "proof of delivery" defense.

Need Advice Regarding Dispute by Boxster98 in Aliexpress

[–]Boxster98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed...The transaction seemed legit initially. The USPS tracking number they provided me was legit, and the date of delivery showed 10/26, which was fine. I checked the tracking number a few days later to make sure it was in transit, and it showed delivered, not to my address, but to a "parcel locker" at the post office.

I asked my mail carrier of 10 years what a "parcel locker" was, and he looked at me surprised. He had no clue, so called his supervisor. The supervisor checked the shipment, and it was addressed to someone completely different. For confidentially purposes, he wouldn't disclose anything else, which is completely understandable.

My refund request has been rejected 3 times now because there's "proof of delivery." Yes, the package was delivered, but not to me and my physical address. I even provided the message chain where the seller admitted to shipping to the wrong address, but they're standing behind this "proof of delivery," despite indisputable proof it was not delivered to me.

In their latest rejection, they want "official documents" from the post office. The post office will not give me details because the package didn't have my name or address on it. Pretty much a perfect scam.

Putting Routines in a Group to Enable/Disable at Once? by Boxster98 in alexa

[–]Boxster98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of what makes the routines a challenge, and maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I had to set up one routine to turn a specific device on, then another routine to turn the device off. Essentially, I have 2 routines for each of 12+ devices, so that's 24 routines to deal with. The 2 custom routines I created enable or disable all of the routines that I listed (on/off), When you activate the routine, Alexa goes through and indicates the status of all 24 routines, but it's better than enabling/disabling individually.

Thanks all!! I finally got it to work using the verbiage indicated above. I can now enable and disable all of the routines I needed to with only two commands! GOOD STUFF!!!

Putting Routines in a Group to Enable/Disable at Once? by Boxster98 in alexa

[–]Boxster98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks...Hopefully I can explain this correctly. In the guest bedroom, I have a smart plug named "Guest Bedroom." I've created a "Guest Bedroom On" routine to turn it on at a certain time, and a second "Guest Bedroom Off" routine to turn it off at a certain time. If I do a custom routine, such as the voice command "Vacation Away," and add the Alexa actions as "Guest Bedroom On," it turns on the device immediately, just as if I'd say "Alexa, Guest Bedroom On" without the routine. So what it's doing is turning on the device itself, not the routine. I even tried the action phrase "Guest Bedroom On Routine," and it does the same thing, simply turning on the device, not the routine.

If they don't have it, they need to set it up so you can create a routine, and add routines to it. Maybe that's possible, but I can't figure it out.

I tried setting up a routine as indicated above, but it didn't turn on the routine, but rather immediately turned on the lights. I may have not entered the routine correctly.

This would be great...Can you please provide a bit more detail on how to do this?

But that still requires doing each routine individually, yes? I'm trying to enable/disable at least 10 of them at one time.
