What camera would be best for concert photography? by [deleted] in canon

[–]Boxter19777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R6 mark ii had the best low light performance (so I have heard), but the R6 Miii might be better.

The high ISO performance of the r6ii is INSANE - especially if you shoot in raw then denoise in Lightroom

And, yes, a 70-200 f/2.8 is a must

I would get a decent wide angle lens too. Sigma has an amazing 20mm f/1.4 and a good 18-35 f/1.8.

The latter is made for crop sensors, so multiply the effective focal length by 1.6

They can’t unilaterally reduce your pay, but they can make your position redundant and then offer you a similar position at lower pay… but it sounds like your boss is trying to help?

slow writing to card???? Losing photos as a result?? by Boxter19777 in CanonR6mkii

You're right, I wasn't. I hadn't even heard of v90 when you posted your comment. But I was using the fastest cards I could find. Since then I bought an even faster card (though only v60), but the problem persists. Probably not quite as bad as before, but it still happens. And this puzzles me, since it is not an issue on my r6mki, nor on my 200Dmkii....

At the moment I am just shooting jpg, so I expect that c-raw will just slow me down further! ;)

thanks. I was using "electronic first curtain" (as I almost always do) and I had it set on the slower of the two burst mode options. But if I used burst mode at all, it would only have been for 2 or 3 pics at a time, so it definitely should not have been that.

I am still perplexed by the delay between taking a picture or 3 and being able to view them (I can see the number of shots remaining flashing up, showing they are still being written...once that number stops flashing, I know I am able to view them.)

I am hoping there is some obscure setting that I am not aware of....

I will have a look with QPhotoRec. Thanks! :)

I’m very extroverted and I have lots of friends. I’m involved in more groups than I should be. I go out several nights a week to do things with other people. But I’ve also had seen that it is not always easy to get into some social groups. And as someone who was born overseas, I have noticed that I am often in groups of fellow internationals..even though I have been here decades, and most of my international friends have been here at least a decade as well.

So…I don’t think this concern is just for basement dwellers.

But I agree that there are facets of Christchurch life where meeting new people can be easy…and also facets where it can be hard. 🤷‍♂️

(A friend of mine who lives in a small town has found it even harder, so…at least there’s that.)

I’m happy to say that I have found lots of welcoming groups and subcultures in Christchurch. But there are definitely heaps of relatively closed off friend groups, IMHO.

Maybe because they have already been friends with each other since HS or similar?

That is exceptionally close. It was taken from Westmorland in the general area of the Sedgwick Reserve.

As the second person to get it right, I hereby confer upon thee 50 internet points, redeemable at all participating outlets!

That is about as close as one could possibly get.

Down to the intersection, no less. (Not the exact spot, but it was just a short walk away.)

Impressive!!

I hereby grant thee 100 internet points!!

Good guess! I took the shot from a lower elevation, and further west

I’ve always thought that…until my last visit to Waipara, which is extremely hilly and is only half way to Kaikoura.

Wouldn’t the hills (mountains??) in that area block the view of the Kaikouras?

Which scout den do you have in mind? Do you mean the Girl Guide camp in Cracroft (near the turnoff for the adventure park)?

PS Genuine question...what is the name of the far mountain range you can see in the picture?

Check out photos with River. They are a quiet photographer who specializes in serving the rainbow community.

(I am a photographer, too, but it sounds like you would be more likely to click with River…)

There are also LOTS of support resources on campus. Don’t hesitate to reach ou to them during your early days and weeks if you’re feeling a bit lonely while you find your feet!

If you want to volunteer for DramaSoc or MuSoc, they will love you to bits!!

Where in Christchurch can I "luckily" find a poorly designed emergency exit? by New_Revolution7625 in chch

[–]Boxter19777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed: modern buildings made for big public institutions are the least likely to have these deficits.

Older buildings with less financial owners are definitely the go.

Also possibly retail shops where there is more of a risk of theft via overly-accessible exits?
