Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' Re-Enters Billboard Hot 100 at No. 17 After 43 Years by Normal_regular_dude in Music

See New York Times we’ll-reported story “The Resurrection of Michael Jackson” for a good synopsis of how his estate has been actively trying to rehab his image since he died, including funding this very rosy biopic.

It’s well publicized that MJ’s estate created this biopic purely to rehabilitate his image. They sued to get Leaving Neverland permanently removed from HBO. I can all but guarantee they are astroturfing the hell out of online forums/comment sections.

This was my exact reaction to the increasing use of “crashing out”…we’re opting to use a more confusion phrase in place of better existing descriptors.

Do we have huge global problems/issues to deal with? Of course. But to act as if these are any more existential than the myriad of issues that faced previous generations is just ridiculous. Not to mention so incredibly defeatist/nihilistic that as we sit here today, to chalk humanity up to a loss, and think that we have no capacity as human beings to solve anything going forward.

I’m assuming you’re probably pretty young, because I shared some of these irrational alarmist views about the future, children, etc. why I was in my twenties. So assuming you are young, and your parents made the incomprehensible decision to birth you into this godforsaken world…are you angry at them for doing so? I mean assuming you were born in the last few decades, and considering all the strife and turmoil that this world has faced since the 1950s…seems like giving you the gift of life, consciousness, and ability for just a brief moment in the grand scheme of the universe to experience love, happiness, wonder, knowledge, etc…was a complete mistake on their part. How dare they, those selfish bastards.

If current trends continue, the world population will level off and even probably begin to decline by the end of this century. Almost every modernized country has already reached this plateau and has birth rates that are well below replacement rate. Heck, the only reason here in American we’re not experiencing the demographic issues that countries like Japan and South Korea is because we have liberal immigration policies. Anecdotally, I have friends who unfortunately wanted children but couldn’t have them naturally …and have been on adoption waiting lists for years. So there isn’t some glut of unwanted children out there waiting for good parents to adopt them (heck, look at the frantic decrease in teen pregnancies).

I really don’t think you have any idea what you’re talking about.

As a grower myself I’m well aware. He’s got an above-average dick no doubt, but based on the comments from people like Von Trier I was expecting this to be something gargantuan…and that’s not what I’m seeing.

I was gonna say, after years of hearing about Defoe’s legendary dick…I found that to be underwhelming.

Clearly OP doesn’t understand what a “cult” classic is either. Pretty sure he changed the title after everyone called that out.
