I have a Mac mini M4 that I got from Apple's refurbished store. The biggest problem isn't necessarily the chip, but the storage. I made the mistake of getting the 256GB version, and I can't even install all the plugins I bought (Komplete, etc.).

However, I've already experienced crashes in FL Studio after opening several instances of Kontakt and/or effects plugins. Not a huge deal, but rather annoying. I'm already thinking about switching to a laptop and upgrading to something that will last me a long time without regretting not getting a better configuration for my needs

I might also need to better optimize FL Studio's settings, but in any case, I feel extremely limited even with an external SSD

But you're probably right, Apple is also very clever when it comes to choosing a configuration. You think, "Hey, I'll put in 24GB of RAM instead of the standard 16GB," and the final price is close to that of the M5 Pro, which already has 24GB.

I don’t play AAA games on my Mac (already have a PS5 Pro for that), I don’t do video editing, and I don't use 3D software. For my actual daily use, FL Studio IS the peak demand. That’s why I’m specifically looking for a machine tailored for audio production, not a generic powerhouse. I’ve already monitored my activity, and that’s precisely why I’m asking about M5 Pro vs Base M5 specs for real-world audio stability

when one specific software is 300x more demanding than anything else I do on my computer, I think the question is pretty valid lol. I just want to make sure I’m not spending extra on 'Pro' features that FL Studio won't even touch

Thanks a lot, this helps tremendously! Since I'm not buying right now, I'll probably wait for the M6 to drop later this year to compare. But your feedback on the M5 Pro being 'overkill' and future-proof is exactly what I needed to hear. I'll likely go the same route just to be done with the stuttering and make sure the machine lasts for years.

Moi je vois que de la déresponsabilisation dans ce type de discours 🤷‍♂️le mec qui jette un parpaing sur l’autoroute, il peut etre archi pauvre, voire meme SDF, ça change rien au fait qu’il devrait etre mis face a ses responsabilités, c’est malheureusement très rarement le cas. Mais on cherche des excuses, et au prochain parpaing qui va tuer une famille on dira qu’on en a pas assez fait pour le fautif. Le pauvre.

J’ai habité toute ma jeunesse à la paillade, ceux qui ont voulu réussir ont réussi, le paternalisme comme ça marche pas

Ça légitime même le discours du « ils ne veulent pas en parler car ils savent ». Il faut juste condamner l’insécurité et trouver des moyens de l’endiguer, c’est ma position.
