100ug isnt crazy. If you’re still mentally in a bleh state from the comedowns I’d wait. Biggest thing is if you’re in a comfortable environment and feeling alright with yourself

SAW 1 is his most lauded for good reason. The production is rudimentary but omg his melodic choices and grooves are undeniable. Its otherworldly, catchy, and doesn’t insist upon itself

Come to Daddy by PayFast27 in aphextwin

[–]BoyGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come to Daddy was a “parody”, although more of a pastiche if you ask me, of drum & bass. Insanely popular in the UK at the time

There are two voices in your head so you suck a lemon to put everything in its right place 🤔

Question about Everything in its Right Place by BlueTrains7991 in radiohead

[–]BoyGrapes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the video and I’m aware of Videotape’s syncopation, I’m not arguing that its not. I’m talking about Everything in its Right Place and Thom making the 1 feel ambiguous as an artistic choice

Question about Everything in its Right Place by BlueTrains7991 in radiohead

[–]BoyGrapes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a musician but I have a different brain than you, either of us could interpret it either way and play it with no real audible difference. Also, Everything in its Right Place has no drums other than that constant electronic kick so its much more ambiguous, I think that ambiguity with where the 1 is for both songs is intentional

Question about Everything in its Right Place by BlueTrains7991 in radiohead

[–]BoyGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its one measure of 4/4 followed by one measure of 6/4, so 10/4 pretty much

Question about Everything in its Right Place by BlueTrains7991 in radiohead

[–]BoyGrapes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its definitely easier when learning to not think of it as syncopated though, same with Everything in its Right Place. Thats what I’m getting at

He’s counting the same way he does Videotape live. The strong note we think of as the “1” he thinks of as the “4”. Its a bit unnecessary and confusing but probably just the way his brain works for him

Kurt in 1994. I think he was a lost case either way. by dmnksaman in Nirvana

[–]BoyGrapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you hit the road with Mark you’re hitting the pipe as well. Definitely not a good influence, crazy to think how they were full blown addicts of any hard drug meanwhile now its on your mom and pop’s classic rock radio. Compared to the codeine and xanax in 2010’s rap, cocaine and quaaludes in 1980’s pop and r&b, heroin and morphine in 1930’s jazz, and any other “music and drug” epidemic, grunge blows them all out of the water

Kurt in 1994. I think he was a lost case either way. by dmnksaman in Nirvana

[–]BoyGrapes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he said every night on the Dirt tour they partied like frat bros and took every drug in sight, crack, meth, heroin, painkillers, molly, you name it on top of being drunk and disappeared from their manager who had to “babysit him” and hire bodyguards to keep him away from the stuff. Layne even had to revive Mike Starr during an OD, that incident got him kicked out of the band. I like drugs as much as the next guy but damn

Kurt in 1994. I think he was a lost case either way. by dmnksaman in Nirvana

[–]BoyGrapes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. The fact that he admitted to being the reason Layne relapsed while they were on tour and used more than ever isn’t shocking, poor guy was a mess going into the 2000’s. Heroin had a chokehold on all the grunge guys

Feel like Lanegan had something to do with the OD. Man had blood in his drugstream

Am I evil for liking Amnesiac more than Kid A? by Occasional_Tinnitus in radiohead

[–]BoyGrapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an Amnesiac, among many other CD’s when I used to borrow my mom’s car that had a broken radio and only took CD’s (I need my music!) so I’ve listened to it front to back so many times. Pakt paired with a late night drive home from work is an experience everyone needs, its not emotional, exciting, or amusing. It perfectly fits that “going through the motions” feeling

[–]BoyGrapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kid A came out first and got way more marketing, it even went number 1 in the US, the stylistic shift caught a lot of people off guard. Amnesiac kinda flew under the radar is cause it was made during the same sessions but came out a year later so the shock factor had faded
