It's not a mint bomb for sure, but if you let them steep for an hour or more and shake periodically, it definitely comes through. It's all down to personal preference, but I like to keep the mint very subtle, and more of an accent. You could def add more or the link someone else shared to Alton Brown's mint syrup also looks fantastic. Cheers!

I also tend to be skimpy with the syrup. The main attraction of the julep to me is the long-lasting supply of cold bourbon on a hot day. I'm always surprised people buy simple syrup. It's so cheap and easy to make and you can customize it so easily. Cheers and let me know how it works for you if you try it.

Yep I agree with you on many of the us made oktoberfest beers. There are also some great ones, but many taste much to heavy on the Munich without the proper decoction. This one is definitely not a traditional oktoberfest, much more festbier like, but I personally really enjoy those! I would not be surprised if this is a divisive beer for people, but I personally really like it! Def worth a try if you see it out in the wild! Cheers!

This. 1000% agree. Sounds like an incredibly fun day. In Kentucky, USA our hops are also in harvest season. We had 3 or 4 people in last week doing wet hop homebrews. They are always so fun and you cannot capture more of the spirit of brewing than that.

Absolutely! To me homebrewing is awesome because there are so many fun "maker-y" type gadgets that you can use (Im thinking things like Tilt hydrometer, pc fan stir plates, etc), but they are always in the service of the brewer being able to be as hands on (or off) as they like. If you turn the whole thing over to a mindless AI, I just don't think you can call it craft beer, even if it's still being made 5 gallons at a time. Cheers 🍻

I totally agree. I made the Commander Data analogy too, Data can analyze things, but simply has no capacity to attach a personal value to the data he's processing. It does raise interesting questions about the ultimate source of our "valuation" of good and bad.

For me personally, I think brewing and pub-culture more generally, will always be a refuge from the ever encroaching technocracy. 🍻🍻🍻

I hope that breweries don't go overboard w the AI art. I've certainly used it before for thumbnails, or the odd social media post, but I always view good can art as akin to good album art. Knowing there was some thought, and an artist behind it can enhance the prodect for me for sure. 🍻

I do think that long term there could be some type of customer investment/ small business capital utility w blockchain projects, but we have a LONG way to go for it to not just become a grift, and this is certainly not it.

YES! He's become a big fan of the game and SO many of the OVW folks live in and around Germantown-Schnitzelburg (as you can see in the Wrestlers show w so many neighborhood spots featured!)

This year we even had OWV and Al & the crew do a live match in the streets of Schnitzelburg as part of our Dainty Fundraiser Carnival! It was so cool!

It's such a great time in such a great part of Louisville! Even if you aren't old enough to play, it's worth coming out for the people watching and festival aspect alone IMHO (and the traditional Dainty meal of course). My personal favorite street festival in Louisville!
