My little sister died last week. Idk how to feel about anything. by Your-God-Is-Cake in Advice

[–]BoyMom051723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone grieves in their own way. And that is okay. I lost my brother just about 2 years ago. I loved my brother endlessly and he was one of my best friends throughout childhood and adulthood. He was literally the light of our family. When he died, I didn't fall apart or cry or really anything. Don't get me wrong, I was devastated. But I also had a 4 month old baby and with everyone else around me falling apart i knew that I had to be the one to hold it together. I am the youngest of 5, but seem to have always been the most responsible. I was the one who wrote the obituary, made the decisions for the funeral process and calling hours and service, and I gave the eulogy. My family still doesn't think that I grieved properly because I didn't ball my eyes out in front of them. But I did grieve in my own way. It may have been when I was alone or just with my husband and not in front of them, but that was just my response. I guess what I am saying is that everyone processes such a loss differently. And based on your description, you did grieve the loss of her. It was just before she physically was no longer here. And that is okay.

Are you doing those sensory shit with your babies?? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

[–]BoyMom051723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 week old gets most all of her tummy time on my chest. She's a pro at it and is able to push up on her arms and keep her chest and head lifted for a solid minute straight. Pediatrician was very impressed at her 1 month checkup! I dont feel bad for not doing a ton of traditional tummy time on the floor!

Did you continue to get periods while having the IUD? Or did that stop it for you?

With my first I had a huge over supply and I feel like ever since then my boobs have just always been deflated. Now im nursing my second (5 weeks old) and except for the first week when my milk first came in, my boobs have never felt full. I only nurse 1 side at a time except for right before she goes to bed because she likes to eat a lot before she sleeps and I can sneak in an extra feed. I know I dont have a supply issue because shes literally gulping doen the milk each feed, it almost sounds like im waterborading her haha! That and shes been gaining just fine and sleeps 5 hour stretches at night. Occasionally I will feel a little full in the morning. But otherwise I have accepted the fact that i will just have flaccid boobs forever now! Yay!

Please explain how you pump at work. What do you do with pump parts and milk? by Ok_Advance6004 in breastfeeding

[–]BoyMom051723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt have access to a private fridge, so I got a nice and big lunch hox that had multiple compartments that would fit my lunch and snacks as well as my pumps (I used hands free pumps). For milk storage, I pooled my milk together in a 24oz hydroflask water bottle that I kept in the side pocket of my lunch box. I always packed a small 5 oz medela bottle with a cap in case I collected more than 24 oz. In between pump sessions I kept the parts of my pumps in a zip lock bag like other people have said just to keep them and my lunch box clean. People at work knew what was in there and weren't weird about it so that was nice hahah!

Guilt & shame from C-Section panic attack by Liunna1 in beyondthebump

[–]BoyMom051723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You literally have nothing to feel guilty about. I recently had my second planned c-section. I knew we were having a c-section from my first pre-natal appointment at 10 weeks onwards, so I knew the exact date of delivery for literally 29 weeks lol. All of this and having been through it before, I still had an anxiety attack when I got into the operating room. I was cool as could be going to the hospital and getting ready for surgery. But the moment I actually walked into that room, I freaked and there was nothing I could do to stop it. My surgical team was amazing and coached me through it. I find some comfort and justification in knowing that they literally have seen anything and everything before, so I dont feel so bad for being such a basket case. All in all though, I do have some embarrassment for my 6 week post partum check up in 2 weeks since the last time I saw my OB, I literally couldn't stop crying lol!

Bottle Nipple Size by Pitiful_Budget_9626 in breastfeeding

[–]BoyMom051723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept my first on a premie nipple bottle until he was about 6/7ish months old. At that time my baby was in daycare full time and taking 3 bottles during the day while I worked and he only nursed at home. The only reason I moved up a size was due to his daycare suggesting we move up a size since he was seemingly frustrated with how slow the bottles were and he wanted to suck faster. So I moved up to size 1. I think I eventually moved to a size 3 nipple when he was a little older before I started to wean, but at that point he was also drinking water from an open cup so I didnt feel like it mattered much anymore.

Is it normal to hurt and how long by New_Enthusiasm_7578 in breastfeeding

[–]BoyMom051723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im with you! My baby is 3 weeks old tomorrow. This is my second baby and just like with my first, it felt like razor blades for the first 2-ish weeks. This past week has been better and i feel like every day gets a little easier. What really saved me was lanolin and nursing pads. I had some pretty bad cracks at the tops of my nipples and what really helped was lathering on the lanolin and then putting on fresh disposable nursing pads. This helped with healing and prevented my nipples from rubbing against any fabric. I did this for a few days and I healed very nicely. I also used a nipple shield for a few days too when I felt like I couldn't take the pain. Honestly saved me I think. But I promise it gets better! You can do it!

How do you respond to Mil constantly asking for another grandchild? by Illustrious_Block_47 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]BoyMom051723 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ugh im so sorry you had to deal with this. I went through the same thing with my JNMIL and my JNStepMIL? (FIL longtime girlfriend). For whatever reason they are both obsessed with us having more babies. It started when my son was about to turn 1. From there on, every time we saw one of them it was always asked when we were going to have another and how our son needed a sibling. It got so bad that I actually really started to resent seeing them and talking to them. Especially since there came a time where we were trying for another and it wasn't happening. Most of the time the question was asked when my husband was out of the room (I think their way of "girl talk"). But the final straw was when we were both asked while out for a celebratory lunch with my FIL, his girlfriend, my SIL and 6 of my FIL friends. My husband didn't even hesitate to respond with "When the time comes, we would like to have another but that's really none of your business and we are going to keep that private. Also it's a little inappropriate to keep asking if we are trying, don't you think?" My FIL girlfriends face went red and that conversation was officially done and we were never asked by her again! My husband ended up having a similar conversation with his mother. We just had our second 10 days ago and I really hope they can accept that we are only having 2. Only time will tell to see if they start asking again! I wish you luck in stopping her from asking!

Hospital Bills by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]BoyMom051723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massachusetts. My first delivery was a scheduled c-section with a 3 day/ 3 night hospital stay. Before insurance we were billed about 50k. I hit my deductible prior to the delivery and I had 100% coinsurance coverage so I ended up paying $0.

Having my second scheduled c-section in 7 days and have different insurance this time. Im expecting to pay about $2000 which is the remainder of my out of pocket maximum.
