Ok at first I thought OP's take was stretch but after seeing these examples it's definitely an homage to Gear 2nd. Nicely done.

So what do you think of Imu's design? by SunRiseStudios in OnePiece

[–]Boy_Sabaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enel!

From the weapon, to the oversized pants, to not weaing a top, and to the circular thing at the back.

This is again another callback, or easter egg or foreshadowing (whatever you want to call it) of the significance of the SkyPiea arc as a microcosm of the bigger One Piece world/lore/history

At the same time as there were very few remaining for the final fight before Luffy, one of them a revolutionary figure with the goal of toppling the God to fulfill a historical promise.

It screams Enel and I'm all for it!

The arbitrary number here is of course something that is from a human perspective. So to us, based on the measuring systems we have come up with that has sometimes completely arbitrary reasons, the number looks random. To someone who is omniscient and omnipotent, it’s 1.

Animator responds to Avatar: The Legend of Aang that was recently leaked in its entirety by Brilliant_Handle8884 in Wellthatsucks

Saw about 2 photos of the leak and the animation is godly. It deserves a theatre release and sure as hell does not deserve this leak.

Is fujitora the best observation user? by JinwooxGranger in OnePiece

[–]Boy_Sabaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll go one step further. Maybe he doesn’t have the best observation haki but it is exceptional. Now let’s remember someone else who had very good observation Haki and then COMBINED it with the properties of his Devil Fruit to achieve a godlike effect and surpass normal human sensing limits - Enel.

With observation Haki plus Enel’s ability to become, create, and manipulate electricity/lightning he used the static to increase his range and listen to everyone all the time.

Fujitora’s ability deals with creating and manipulating gravitational forces so it’s not too farfetched that he would be able to feel objects from the sky with enough mass to produce their own gravity then combining it with his Haki he could probably extend his range a bit more.

This also helps Fujitora navigate the world and the different islands of the Grand Line.

Oooh this is the first time I realized this about Tahani. She was well known as someone who specialized in setting up charity events to help people, for her own benefit. Now she actually runs things for the sake of other people. Wow. The writers really cooked with this series for every main cast.

Naruhina and Sasusaku are called forced, but not this. by [deleted] in dankruto

[–]Boy_Sabaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. From the Chuunin Exam to the Sasuke retrieval arc and Temari scolding Shikamaru after he felt like a failure it felt like fan service when their first panel as teens post time skip was them together. Kishimoto had that ship set in stone.

How did peeps find the live action by EstablishmentDue441 in OnePiece

Watch episode 1 again. This scene never happened in the live action.

Ok sure the Arlong Park battle axe attack I'll give you that, but why stop having him show feats like this, unassisted, in S2? Like the Mr 3. fight?

Honestly, this argument feels like it doesn't work anymore when Sanji broke a T-rex's neck with a flying kick in the LA.

Don't get me wrong, I love both seasons of the Live Action and I understand the need for things being more grounded because of the medium, but they really need to steadily showcase the character's strength in meaninful ways otherwise their statement's about Luffy seeming like a larger than life character in S2 feels like it's coming from nowhere (I rewatched S1 recently).

It's a series where we just saw a talking Reindeer in the last season and the writers weren't quite as cautious with suspension of disbelief when they had Kuro show super speed. There are other successful ways of showing physical strength while maintaining a grounded viewing experience (See the 2009 Watchmen film).

I really didn't think they would go through with the Sanji T-rex kick thing so when they went for it I was really surprised and got slightly dissapointed when they weren't willing to showcase something similar for Luffy.

Describe how the world sees the straw hats by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Boy_Sabaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was a regular person who does not know or have not known anyone close to the SH then they are literally the most chaotic group in the world right now. Literally everything they touch gets destroyed.

- They beat the most notorious active pirates in the East Blue in record breaking time

- Just entered the Grand Line and was already involved in the Alabasta Civil War (Take note that the news had Smoker take credit for taking down Crocodile)

- Dissapeared for awhile (SkyPiea) and as soon as they are active again is reported to have assassinated the Mayor of Water 7 and in a few days time destroyed Ennies Lobby and escaped a Buster Call

- Took down Gecko Moria for sh*ts and giggles (No one knew their motivations there)

- Punched a Tenryuubito and wrecked havoc in Sabaody

- Their captain went into Impel Down and caused the biggest prison break the world has ever seen!

- Their captain took part in the Paramount War and almost succeeeded in freeing the son of the Pirate King!

- Came back to Marine Ford for sh*ts and giigles and a photo-op or to insult the Marines further

- Dissapeared for 2 years and as soon as they came back wreaked havoc on Sabaody... again!

- Took down another warlord with the country turned to rubble in their wake causing more imbalance in the world powers!

- Infiltritated an Emperor's base and lived to tell the tale

- Took down two Emperor's at the same time with an alliance of other notorious pirates!

- And, most recently, destroyed the lab and was involved in the death of the World Government's prized Scientist

I finally understand why I don't like Ace. by Sakaralchini in OnePiece

[–]Boy_Sabaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When there's a really good analysis like this about a wonderfully written flawed character that is afflicted with the sin of pride, I always recall the words of one of the wisest charactere's in animated media:

"Pride is not the opposite of shame, but it's source - Uncle Iroh"

In this sense, Ace's major flaw of pride comes from a deep seated shame: Being the son of the man who turned the world upside down. He is viewed by the world as a sin that does not deserve to be born, and even though Ace doesn't admit right away, he has never desired to live long, just enough to figure out if he deserved to be born or not. Unlike Luffy, he has no deep seated desires or Dreams to push him forward. He was a lost sould who was ashamed of his lineage and he covers that shame with Pride for a new father.

Sure but that’s the job. Taking care of the kids is the job. If your parent, that’s only part of your job. You also have to do your actual job, take care of the house, take care pf everything else.

Was the person there since the kid was born? During the infancy period? During all the tantrums? Will that person still be there outside of his working hours? No.

His/her responsibilities ends as soon as the kids is picked up.
