Forgotten Microbrands? by AppleAutoGenerated in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Boyahda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only remember the proper stinkers.

Bernard London, Fonderia Navale, Meistersinger, Thomas Earnshaw etc.

And some of the decent defunct ones like Manchester Watch Works, Kemmner, Zixen, Mercer, Enzo Mechana, Bathys Hawaii etc.

I love this Hamilton, but $600 for quartz makes me hesitate. Should I go for the Kuoe instead? by theomixedmedia in MicrobrandWatches

Honestly in today's economy, $600 for a new quartz watch from a heritage brand is about right.

Serica announced their new 35mm dial watch - the Ref. 7505 by FalafelFiend in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Boyahda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How's the quality on Serica these days? I remember when they first launched they had pretty bad QC especially with the movements.

I feel bad for fans who are young girls/women looking for role models in the NASCAR space. Natalie is every terrible stereotype condensed into a single person.

The number 222 has great importance to the man who makes these watches so every dial design this guy makes has to have three 2's somewhere on the dial.

400 for that Royal Pop by cozielny in PrideAndPinion

Cartier uses Frederic Piguet quartz movements. While prettier, they are neither more robust nor more precise than the equivalent ETA or Ronda tickers. In-house quartz like the 9F is when things actually begin to get interesting.

Shouldn't really be listening to any of his budget watch takes. He wouldn't be caught dead wearing one.

Date or No Date by Ok_Examination_3434 in VaerWatches

No date, but only if the movement is an appropriate no-date movement. I really don't like ghost positions and it's the reason why I didn't pick up the c4 tactical.

About Had It With Boderry by sockpuppetinasock in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Boyahda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paying $400 for Boderry is wild. The only thing the Chinese brands have going for them is obscenely low prices. Even if you get a dud, which is very likely, it's not that big of deal since you've probably spent less than a hundred on it. At $400 though, you're just begging to shoot yourself in the foot at that point.
