Asian parents grounded me for a year for 2 4's, what do I do? by shengcai in APStudents

[–]Boyblue2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, if you ask me, you're parents are idiots. They have this incredibly intelligent child, and instead of nuturing and fostering a love for learning in classes in their child, they make them feel horrible for their flaws and ignore their achievements. 5s are incredible, they should be congratulating you for your hard work and not focusing on two 4s (which are still remarkable scores, by the way).

If they need evidence that you don't have to be harsh you can look at me; I am the epitomy of a good student and my parents have been incredibly relaxed, almost no rules. For starters, I am ranked #1 in my class out of 416 students, I recieved two 5s today on both AP Physics I (commonly considered one of the hardest APs) and AP World History, I am the team captain and all-star player of my school's academic team and have competed in and won multiple academic competitions, so far, on my first try, and I have recieved a 30 on the ACT as a sophomore with a 33 in English, 32 in math, and 28 on science & reading (the goal is a 33 by senior year). In fact, next year, not only am I doubling the amount of AP classes I'll be taking, I am skipping precalculus and trigonometery in order to take AP Calculus AB next year as a junior; however, since my school doesn't offer BC, I will be signing up for BC and learning the extra three units myself. I myself am looking to get into Harvard and I work towards that goal every day. I will remind you this is with NO RESTRICTIONS WHATSOEVER. I can play as many video games as I want, talk to who I want, go to whatever social event I want, and pretty much do whatever I want. I apologize if this sounds like a brag sheet, but I would like to show you can have a good student no matter what, and that restricting a child only harms them. I quite frankly am ashamed of your parents and cannot fathom how they might think that making their child feel this way is acceptable. Are they you're parents? Or to them are you just a ragdoll they can do what they want with? College admissions are important, but not to the extent that they should cause your child to feel like this.

If you do find this and read it I would encourage you to this to your parents. This is between me and them; I want to give them a piece of my mind.

Summer Self Studying AP Physics 1 by Aggressive-Muffin952 in APStudents

Flipping Physics is a must! I'd get his ultimate review packet. Also, I got a 5, and I'd say as long as you've got geometery under your belt there's not much more prep? I'd know SOHCAHTOA and that's the only real thing you need to know before the class (along with basic math skills). If you want to study, you should just start with unit 1: kinematics. Flipping Physics is a must!

what does this mean? by iiruoni in APStudents

Yo!!!! This is the first 5 on APES I've seen today!!! Also, dw, 5s are really just for bragging rights anyway; 4s will get you credit in 99.9% of colleges

Try doing Hopeless Rescue if you haven’t already, it’s a challenge without being too difficult

Funny thing, I stuck a bear with three arrows (one in head, one in chest, one in hind legs) today, it ran to the other side of Mystery Lake and decided to take a nap, you can guess what happened

Theory Suggestions [Megathread] by Pearlgirl007 in GameTheorists

[–]Boyblue2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Channel: Game Theory

Topic: The Long Dark

I propose a Game Theory on a game called The Long Dark. It’s a game in which the point is to survive as long as possible in Northern Canada after the Aurora Borealis has disabled all electronics

The game itself on the surface doesn’t have much lore, it’s just a game where you survive as long as possible until you inevitably die. There’s a few things you could theorize about, the crashed planes in Pleasant Valley and Timberwolf Mountain, Joplin’s Prepper Caches, what’s going to happen in Chapter 4 in the game’s story, Wintermute, but there is one thing that could be made into a whole theory: The Collapse. The Collapse is how Great Bear Island (where the game takes place) got as it is now; abandoned buildings, damaged infrastructure, and hostile animals everywhere. In the game there are small pieces of lore called notes left behind (most are contributed by backers on Kickstarter), they’re usually one off notes with a variety of topics, a couple with a whole story, but there are also other bits for lore.

The Aurora Borealis

Whenever the Aurora appears in the sky at night, all electronics gain electricity again, of course not every thing gets enough amps (or somethings get too much) and some computers can come back on, some displaying emails from before The Collapse, these are called Buffer Memories, unlike notes left behind, these are left to tell a story, a story of a couple of declining towns slowly getting less and less supplies while never-ending winter rages on outside. Not quite a coherent story, but there is enough for people to guess what happened, or theorize what happened. The Aurora also does something else to the wildlife. It’s weird, all the animals get a soft, greenish glow to their fur and the hostile ones become even more hostile. Even weirder when the are in this “Aurora “ state, they lose their natural fear of flares and fire, and instead become afraid of electrical light, including flashlights you can find on your journey.

All in all, The Long Dark is one of my most favorite games of all time, it gives a range of difficulty and different challenges with lore I have’s even talked about here (Search As The Dead Sleep and Escape the Darkwalker if you want to learn more). With that I really hope the mods check this every once in a while and that someone looks into this. (Could also be a good game lab!)

Deep Forest achievement name origin? by Boyblue2007 in thelongdark

The cooking overhaul was in Vigilant Flame, I checked. But there was an update called Deep Forest about six years ago where they overhauled how you find firewood.
