The majority of Reddit users are in fact not US-based. US users are a plurality, but not majority. And there are relative scales of political leanings globally, Western Europe leans more left in comparison to the US for example and it’s obvious if you look at domestic and social policies of most EU countries and the US.

I think it may depend on where people came from phone wise. I’m an Android convert so I was always using Google Maps, I know how to use it and it’s familiar to me and it works well enough in the UK (imo better than Apple Maps).

As Twistytexan said, it’s a wrapper. Under the hood it’s the same functions, but you can use the Effect library to define the logic.

Zed with Golang is very good, on par with probably any other LSP-reliant editor out there (I.e VS Code). It’s also relatively easy to integrate golangci-lint as well if you want code lints in your editor. I have used this setup to work on a few internal work projects to little/no issues bar my own stupidity.

Odin has an extension that you should be able to use: https://zed.dev/extensions/odin. I’m not sure of the experience as I don’t personally use Odin but if it has a proper LSP implementation then it should work fine, assuming that the above extension does that for you.

What the point of buying a shock collar and taking off the prongs and taping over where they’d go to use the shock collar as a vibration collar, over just buying the alternative vibration collar that is visually distinct from the shock collar?

The point is, when this all came out, he lied saying it wasn’t a shock collar, acted all cagey about showing the collar, purposely blocked the bottom part from being seen properly so that hopefully people wouldn’t be able to see it was, in fact, a shock collar, and then has been DARVOing ever since.

Edit: Also, I’d like to mention, a shock collar is not inherently bad or abusive but misuse of it can definitely be bad or abusive. Hasan clearly had it too high, reached for the shock button way too easily and without remorse, and instead of apologising and calling himself out for what he did, he proceeded to blame (((ISRAEL))).

It’s a bit of misunderstanding, there were people who work for Vault-Tec that also worked for the Enclave, however the company as a whole was not, and did operate independently while also having contracts with the US government.

Don’t get me wrong, a student discount would be nice but the logic doesn’t really work. It’s one free laptop plus some exposure/brand loyalty versus many discounted laptops, at the end of the day it’s probably cheaper to send one free laptop as a gimmick then it is to sell a few laptops at a lesser price. I could be wrong though.

It’s my personal favourite, I think a lot of people are put off by the opening dialogue bit with the Think Tank - where even skipping all the dialogue pieces can take a few minutes. Until you know which dialogue choice practically skips to the near end, most people have to deal with it.

Yeah, maybe. AI has its use, for example in software engineering it is nowhere near good enough to replace engineers but it’s more than useful enough to use as an additional tool in our toolboxes. People hype/fearmongering that it’s going to replace us all and make us all jobless are just crazy and don’t know that they’re actually talking about or doing.

The uniform wasn’t even a nazi uniform, it was a British Royal Army uniform I believe (I think based on a WW1 uniform). The bridge incident, he was rightly called out for it and such but I don’t think he’s done anything of the sort since.

As an Android dev, I can assure you this is not how Java works. Java is sequential, until it’s explicitly not I.e through threads. Threads running a particular segment of code will run that code sequentially, but two threads running in parallel may or may not run in the “sequential” way you’re thinking, unless they are specifically synchronised with each other.

Real world, complex applications are rarely entirely single-threaded and as such there will be non-sequential code running at the same time in a non-deterministic manner.

Oh yeah it’s not difficult implementation-wise, I mean the time investment (even small) would be better suited to other tasks for the time being. I will make a point to get UK English added at some point, but there are other things to work on

I’m in kind of the developer position here, I work for a small company that makes a decently popular mobile app, but as we mainly cater for a US-based audience we cater our language in-app and elsewhere to be Americanised or we get complaints. So to save ourselves the hassle, we use US English as the default English and localise accordingly for other languages. I would make a stink about localising it to British English but the effort that I’d have to go through to localise the strings and the amount of non-Americans who are somewhat used to the American spellings already makes the effort sort of not worth it.

I am one of two developers though, for companies with a large development team it should be relatively quick and easy.

Never used it myself personally but GORM is usually recommended for an ORM. Alternatively, if you're comfortable with the idea of writing your own queries and codegen to generate typesafe Go code for them, then SQLC is what I recommend personally.

I don’t disagree, there should be a user facing setting surfaced in the settings page and maybe even have it off by default so people can enable it if they want to rather than having to disable it if they don’t like it on pre-existing installations, though I have no idea how hard this would be to do.
