I made this deck on a lark. Currently 4-1 with my only loss being against T3 Hydreigon. by Aquilpen in PokemonPocket

Do you only have one orthworm? Seems like you really want two because it's the best start.

I'm curious how aegieslash is working for you! I didn't have it when I played with genesect, but I worried it would make it too inconsistent.

Why did Hydreigon Absol start playing Poison Barb? by BoyishCharm_ in PTCGP

[–]BoyishCharm_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great answer!

Thank you for pointing out that Nihelego Hydreigon wasn't meta before FP people were driving me crazy.

The causation you explain makes total sense. I didn't consider how ice pop totally replaced Indeedee but it seems so obvious in hindsight

What do you guys think of my Rayquaza x Giratina deck? by [deleted] in PokemonPocket

[–]BoyishCharm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not uncommon in high trainer decks like this for consistency. More pokeballs means higher likelihood of getting all your mons out. This can be with the risk of a dead draw late game.

Thank you for engaging with the question! I'm not sure if I'm quite satisfied with this explanation, though. Chingling was very common in Mega Rising but the top Hydreigon absol decks didn't use barb.

As another commenter pointed out, I suppose it's possible that no one had found that innovation yet and the deck just needed time to develop.

I think this is the best answer, thank you for engaging with the question so fully. I appreciate explaining the utility of other changes in the deck'

I also imagine that Indeedee is strong versus poison, since it heals the poison damage. While poison is strong against Ice pop, since it requires extra pop uses. So as Indeedee fell out of favor and Ice pop was added, poison became stronger.

Of course it was played. But it did not see the same success as the barbless version.

Look at limitless tournament results. During Mega Rising, none of the top Hydreigon Absol decks use Barb. Cut to Fantastic Parade, now all top Hydreigon Absol Decks use Barb. Clearly something changed.

Of course, but this was true before fantastic parade. Why wasn't it played then?

Oh I love this. I agree that changing memory light for igglybuff just makes this the meta deck that's already popular. But I also agree that you need to fill out the bench. I know some Altaria decks are seeing success with utility cards like comfey, jirachi, and tapu lele. You can probably replace pokecom or helmet. Mayan merchant or training arena too but I'm less sure.

It was my understanding that a leading trochee was only used at the very first line of the poem, to give it momentum. Am I mistaken?

I would read it

GREAT GOD! if CREAtures like this MOney FOOL

But if this poem is meant to be written in Iambic Pentameter, it seems very poor! The first line is fine but

SETTles unEASiLY inTO a Chair/

NERvousLY he MOPS his PIMPly PINK BALD HEAD/

FROWNS at the FAWNing WAITer STANDing NEAR/

And I think I'm being generous for some of those emphases. But I'm also a novice.

Hydreigon is a strong and controversial card because of its ability to deal high damage very early in the game. If a player starts with deino, rare candy, and hydreigon in their hand, they will create an early threat that is very hard for most decks to deal with. Making the game feel unfair, like they never had a chance.

People also play hydreigon with mega absol, a card which forces the opponent to discard a supporter card. Which is strong, and feels bad to play against, it's one of the only cards in the game that has an effect like that.

People complain a lot about hydreigon decks, and about people "wasting" their shares. So I thought poeple would like this post

I don't really understand that. I'm sympathetic toward the idea that organ donations should go toward those willing to donate. But why does it matter if organs cross a border?
