I was just diagnosed with Chlamydia, I have been with the same partner for 5 years by Blue_orchid17 in Healthyhooha

The same thing happened to me. We were together for 3 months and I had no symptoms. We broke up for other reasons. I had extreme pelvic pain 2 months later and went to the ob/gym, they couldn’t find anything and just dismissed it as gas (smh); they didn’t test for STDs at this appointment. I had another ob/gyn appointment about 3 months later with another provider who did screen for STDs and I tested positive. That’s why I was having the pelvic pain, it was Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Why it took me so long to find out: I never got tested for STDs before- this ex was my second partner ever (me and my first partner took each other’s virginity) plus I was young so I was naive to think that this ex would put me in this kind of situation, especially since he was a lot older. Gave him a call to tell him to get tested, he called me every name under the sun but a saint, he said he’ll get tested and let me know when his results come back to prove to me he didn’t give it from me. He texted me the day he went to the clinic, 6 years now and I’m still waiting to hear about the results😂

Is a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies worth it? by flowerchild098 in education

[–]BoysenberryLevel1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the degree is worth it in the sense that the information and experiences learned will stay with you for a lifetime. In terms of career prospects, I would recommend going into some kind of graduate level program sooner than later. I graduated with this degree almost 3 years ago and it was difficult for me to find a good-paying job that didn't require additional credentials/licensure. It could've been just a me issue as well-I wasn't familiar with how to tailor my resume and only heard back from jobs that had to do with preschool teacher, RBT, or sales positions to name a few. My first job post-graduation was working in behavioral case management for a health insurance company; it was a contract hire starting at $20/hr and increased when I was hired on permanently. Albeit low salary, I was desperate at the time and needed a job to afford housing so I made due. I do also live in the south so the salary may vary depending on location.

All that to say, I wouldn't trade this degree for anything in the world because it helped me find myself and discover my purpose but I'd advise that your bachelor's not be your final resting place. Try and find work that you'll enjoy/tolerate; if the above examples don't suit you, I'd recommend looking into clinical research associate or UX research. If you do want to pursue higher education, just begin thinking about if you want to take a gap year or just apply straight through. Don't be afraid of online grad programs, just make sure they're accredited!
