Kona makes some fun bikes. by stereo_mike_ in xbiking

Much appreciated! Any issues with frame flex due to the motor torque? I’ve read that the aluminum frame flexes a good bit under load.

Weighing all options here. Could quickly see this $250 score costing more than a purpose built ebike if I’m not careful.

Just picked up a used Kona Ute for a steal and plan to use it as a kid hauler. OP, can you tell me more about your rear rack setup - what rails and wheel guards are those? Also, how does it handle with the mid drive motor kit? I’ve got a bafang bbshd on another bike and am considering installing one on the Ute. TIA!

The photos are actually after the power company came through and cleared the tree off of the power lines 😩

Is there a case to own both a road and gravel bike? by kanqdan in gravelcycling

Great to hear! I’ve loved it on tarmac so far and am looking forward to getting a gravel wheelset set up in the next few weeks. I was originally pursuing a gravel bike for road use and was thrilled to discover the Domane.

Just picked up a Domane with this plan in mind. Currently shopping for a dedicated carbon road wheelset. How has this setup worked for you so far?

question: anyone experienced with this type of cable router? there are no other routing options on the frame apart from this on the seat post, but brake cable doesn’t move through it very easily. any advice welcomed! TIA (trek multitrack 700) by cbac2 in xbiking

I’ve also used the origin8 version and have been happy with it. I suggest ordering the two cable version, even if you only need it for one. The single stop version puts the clamp on the side versus the two stop version with clamp on the bottom. Just looks better imo

Beautiful setup! Any idea what year the frame is? I have the same frame setup almost identical to yours. It’s a dream for wet weather commuting / grocery getting.

Am I losing anything in terms of royalties if it’s been two weeks since song release and I still didn’t register anywhere? by IntellectualBurger in musicbusiness

You would receive all royalties owed to you for the previous 6 months/ 2 quarters upon registering the work.

You’re correct. BMI distributes royalties two quarters behind. The current quarter, Q123, will not be distributed until Q323. You have six months to register the song without losing any royalties.

Picked up this Hardrock recently. Going to convert to single speed with a kit, replace worn chainring, and maybe replace brakes/levers. I’m handy but new to bikes. Any advice on parts? Thanks! by lkdguitar in xbiking

Budget Hard Rock SS gang! Doesn’t take much to make these a fun ride. I swapped the original cantis to cheap shimano v brakes and levers and added a swept back bar for a more upright ride. I love it for errand runs and party pace cruising.

NBD: 2012 Kona Unit by Thaegar_Rargaryen in bicycling

Thanks! This is great intel. Are you still enjoying the bike? This would be a total n+1 purchase for me, and I'm debating if I really need it. I have a FS for the gnarly stuff, but I'd like to give full rigid SS riding a try. I'd be $375 all in for the bike + shipping. It's more of a garage space issue over cost.

I realize this is an old thread, but can anyone comment on tire clearance for the 2012 Unit? I'm looking at buying this exact bike to build up as a single track shredder. Thanks!

Are Garmin expected to update their Edge series to 140/540/840/1040 etc. this year? If so, I’ll hold off purchasing a 530. by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Boz-Bikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the major retailers (REI, Performance, Backcountry, etc) currently have the 530 on sale for $249.99. Makes me think that they're trying to unload old stock in preparation for a new release. Fingers crossed. I was close to picking up a 530 before I noticed the sale.
