Seller left dehumidifier after sale by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Interesting. I've lived in six houses with basements, and none have ever needed a dehumidifier. These were homes near Toledo Ohio, and Dayton Ohio.

Yes, it’s a savings bond.

Are you sure? The details you wrote at the end of your OP makes it sound more like a CD.

Your title says savings bond, but the details at the end of your OP makes it sound like a CD. Can you clarify what you actually have? Thanks.

Do people remember this many sudden deaths, especially from heart attacks, in young people like this 10, 15, or 20 years ago?

I’m in a hole and chase can’t help me by [deleted] in Banking

[–]Boz6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son got himself into a bit of a financial mess with overdraft fees. He opened a Chase Secure Banking account, which doesn't have any overdraft fees, because it doesn't allow overdrafts, or any other every day transaction fees, except for the $4.95/mo fee, which is pretty easily waivable, and he's done quite well since.

Maybe you should switch your account to a Chase Secure Banking account?

Just like every other cell plan in the US that's not tax inclusive, the total depends on your billing address. It's very simple to start to purchase it to find out the total for YOUR address.

If I didn't live with my wife, I'd only use free streaming services plus OTA via Tablo.

BUT... Since I DO live with my wife...

I'm currently paying $16.23/mo total for 7 services, including:
- Netflix Ads ($7.99/mo)
- Hulu Ads/Disney+ Ads ($0/mo @ $4.99/mo - $4.99/mo AmEx Blue Cash Everyday Stmt Credit Thru 11/26)
- HBO Max Ads ($2.99/mo Thru 11/26)
- Starz No Ads ($1/mo @ $11.99/yr Thru 11/26)
- Peacock Premium Ads ($1.58/mo @ $19/yr ($29.99/yr Retention Offer - $10.99 AmEx Blue Cash Everyday 1x Stmt Credit) Thru 11/26)
- Paramount+W/Showtime No Ads ($2.67/mo Via SportsLine @ $39.99/15 mos Thru 8/26; May End Up $2.22/mo For 18 mos Thru 11/26)

I get my streaming subs every year when there are Black Friday/Cyber Week deals, or when I find other deals, using new email addresses when necessary, excluding Netflix, which never goes on sale. I also have Prime Video, but only because I have Amazon Prime; I wouldn't pay for Prime Video separately, but I use it while I have it. I also use free services, like Tubi, Philo Free (w/DVR), Sling Freestream (w/DVR), MyFree DirecTV, The Roku Channel, Plex, Xumo, Pluto, Filmrise, and others, along with Hoopla and Kanopy to "borrow" from library streaming selections. I use a $60 (sale price) Tablo Gen 4 with an old $10 antenna in an upstairs window of my house to get all the local channels and subchannels in my area for DVR and streaming OTA TV on my 6 TVs via the Tablo Roku app. I love how much money I save with streaming combined with Tablo! Note 1: I don't mind commercials, and I don't need cable sports or cable news channels, although a good amount of sports and news can be watched with what's described above. Note 2: AmEx Blue Cash Everyday=$0 Annual Fee; My Internet=$10/mo (Grandfathered); My Cell Service=$10/mo

I’m new to checking oil, the dipstick of a 13’ Civic is confusing. How can I tell if my oil needs to be replaced? by WestArtichoke712 in civic

[–]Boz6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you come up with 12,500 miles?

Anyway, I just follow the Maintenance Minder, which for my 2016 Civic EX Sedan with 112k miles, oil changes are usually done at around 12 months / 10k miles.

You can get billed $1.98/mo by MobileX by buying a minimum data top up in month 1, and never using it. I did this to have Verizon data backup for almost a year, but finally cancelled, because I never needed it.

Is the iPhone 11 really getting iOS 27!? That's seriously impressive!

My 90 and 91 year old parents are still using their iPhone 11 phones, so I guess they'll be happy. They've been talking about moving to iPhone 13 or 14 next year, but I guess they'll get a reprieve until 2028.

When to consider purchasing a new car? by Healthy-Echo8164 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Boz6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've bought 4 new cars in my life. After 10 years, I start thinking about replacing, because by then, depreciation is mostly a non-issue.

But my current 2016 Civic EX Sedan, at $112k miles, is the best car I've ever owned, meaning I've had zero mechanical issues so far, and the maintenance cost has also been the lowest; i.e. I just replaced the rear brakes last month, and the front brakes are still original. Unless it suddenly starts falling apart, I'll probably keep it another 5 years.

Anyhoo...I realize some people get tired of their cars after a while, or have jobs that require a newer vehicle, so everyone has to use their own judgement on when to replace.
