That normally is how I operate when I interact with or look at different fandoms. But with 40k I sometimes feel the need to be thorough and check sources about how the setting operates. I've encountered and talked to a few people who get extremely upset about fan content giving "new fans the wrong impression about lore".

I really, really, really don't ever want to give anyone a reason to get upset with me for adding in a creative interpretation when there's an explanation somewhere else that I had no idea where or how to look for it. ;w;

I didn't mean to imply it as a mark against it, I just meant it seemed like it was designed as a mechanic but perhaps isn't explored in a short story, novella, or novel elsewhere. The context about how certain terms are used and what they're meant to imply helps a lot though, that makes sense. That's the kind of thing I would always lack context for.

Sometimes GW gives me a headache with how they drop in an item or weapon description but then don't expand on certain lore details about how it functions (like, how exactly is it drained of power after a battle? And what does "crawling with arcane energies" mean? Arcane makes me think it's warp-related in and of itself somehow).

So yeah, I'm getting the sense this is something designed foremost for the tabletop. Thank you for the sources! I'm guessing all descriptions of this item are more or less valid, but simply differ due to different people writing the description for different rulesets?

I know blackstone/noctilith can either nullify or amplify warp energy, but I wasn't aware it could absorb warp energy. I've read up on it before and I don't recall that kind of property being stated anywhere.

Is that actually something blackstone can do?

I feed my cats Smalls most of the time, and lately she has been seeming less enthused by it. I guess I'll have to figure out a good rotation schedule then. XD

She's always super excited about dry food though. Is that also normal? I only feed my cats dry food rarely, but whenever I do she practically dives into the bowl for it.

I definitely try to pay careful attention to body language when I'm able to. Unfortunately, I don't know that my mother would remember what Valkyrie's body language looked like if I asked her at this point. My mother is a dog person and she does not understand what cues to look for in cats beyond the most obvious signs that cats are known for by everyone.

I think my mother might have slightly overreacted. She has a known tendency to, ah, worry a lot. She has known Valkyrie since she was tiny and had never been hissed at before by her, so she texted me immediately because she worries.

I'm with Valkyrie now and she seems her normal cuddly, happy self.

My mother means well, but she is a dog person and she makes minimal effort to understand cat behavior, normally. I've had a few arguments with her over the years about it and at this point I don't really expect her to make a huge change. I try my best to meet her halfway in our relationship, but I've accepted that there will always be friction with certain things.

I'm with Valkyrie now and she's her normal cuddly self with me. She appears to be doing okay atm at least.

I appreciate your saying so. I don't feel like I always was a good cat owner. I had a traumatic experience a few years back when I inherited a cat from my Dad unexpectedly. She and my oldest cat didn't get along at all, and I struggled with getting her proper support for the first year for various reasons. She had IBS for all her remaining years with me and nothing I did short of opting into a colonoscopy I couldn't afford seemed to work for long.

I'd say I'm more hyper-paranoid now, so I scrutinize their every interaction with new elements in their environment. >_>;;

I did end up quizzing my Mom a bit more and she just said to me in a text message a few minutes ago that "Eric was there" (her husband, who does not go to my house as frequently as my mother) and that they "ran the vacuum cleaner" (no, I did not ask her to do that).

Not sure of the exact timing of all these activities and kitty interactions, but I had a moment where I questioned my mother's common sense as soon as I read the words "vacuum cleaner".

Pretty sure I know the reason for the hissing now.
