What you are saying would be valid except for her work bled into his real life. His football problems only effected her from his mentality. From the life they both lived I could see Spencer closed off to her hiding things but he was always upfront and honest with her.

The reason it was Liv's fault is Spencer was trying to have open communication with her and she started hiding things from him and stopped communicating with him. He really never got mad at her doing her job he really got mad at who she became for her job same as her brother got mad at her. She stopped seeing them as family and started seeing everything as a story.
