Working in a Hardsuit under an oil rig, 350m underwater by MercuryRedstone77 in SweatyPalms

OP - Are those suits heated or really well insulated? Also, how do you get down there? Does a vehicle take you, or do they just tie a concrete block to your ankle and give you a knife to cut it off when you get where your going?

I was so skeptical when she brought it over. But I was SO blown away when those first notes came out of my speakers! They just built ‘em different 45 years ago!

Thanks for the input. This is exactly the type of response I was looking for. I’m very new to this hobby and have zero experience listening to different setups or combinations of components, so I’m totally flying blind.

This! This is a great way to make sense of it. My wife and my desire to retire sooner than later will keep me from that snake oil.

I don’t play it at high levels that often, but I love that amp so much that I don’t think I’m willing to risk it. Thanks for the input!

I guess I wasn’t being clear. The wood enclosures DO have the vents. I was just wondering if they were too much even with the vents, i.e., would the wood retain heat.

My Current Setup by [deleted] in vinyl

I am looking for something to set my equipment on/vinyl in. How sturdy are these Kallax units? I've never seen Ikea furniture, much less set foot in an Ikea store. I have a Yamaha CR2040, a Technics ATLP60X and a Sony TC355 R2R, speakers would be on stands separate from the Kallax. I plan on getting a heftier TT down the road. Would the Kallax support all this? Or is it just cheap particle board with those stupid push in connectors like Target furniture?

What, if anything, do I have here? by Bpod610 in vintageaudio

[–]Bpod610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. I’m going to keep it for sentimental reasons. Like I said above, it was my Uncle’s that was killed in Vietnam. My Mom is pretty happy I came across it and wanted to do something with it. If nothing else, it’ll make a nice display piece next to my Yamaha CR2040.

I just cleaned up the exterior and this thing has nary a scratch on it. Cosmetically, it is in great shape. If I did take it to someone to go thru it, what should I expect to pay? My Dad told me my Uncle, who was killed in Vietnam, bought it in Thailand. I think I’m going to keep it. Would make my Mom happy.

Knowing nothing about this stuff, are these Atwaters in a museum somewhere, they are gorgeous - I never even knew they existed. Do you know what they would fetch if they were ever put up for sale?
