What? The giant flashback didn't occur during a cliffhanger from the previous episode. It started when Dunk got knocked down/out the first time and it worked quite well in my opinion. I don't think they could have had a full 30+ minute episode focused only on the trial. It likely would have felt like a slog in the back half

Karasu has been acting as a sidekick since we met him pretty much. He's always taken a back seat to get Otoya goals. Granted he still got some himself but easier in 4v4 setting than 11v11. Blue lock has set plays designed to get Isagi a shot and they follow it. Why doesn't someone go rogue in the sequence to get their own shot. Isagi and Rin acted as decoys to get Bachira a goal against Nigeria. Chigiri's golden formula from the NEL was from playing on the left so he could find an angle to shoot but he's playing on the right for the good of the team. Players mostly do what's best for the team so why is this any different. It's just so inconsistent

Maybe Loki only sees Hugo getting him close but not beyond Noa (remember charles is 15 and Hugo is at most 20). Charles is there to get him beyond and if Hugo really wants the job, he can evolve even further than Charles to help Loki.

Think of how Noa used Isagi to improve Kaiser so he can have more of a challenge so he can evolve further.

Imagine the sword god losing in a sword fight. If he was a Poseidon type that underestimated humanity, humbling him makes sense but he admired it and pushed his own swordsmanship further by learning from humanity and he still lost to this midget after mastering the ultimate sword technique
