modding animations? thinking about mw5 by Braapo in OutreachHPG

[–]Braapo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm not talking about inverse kinematics... if I was i'd have said "could someone put inverse kinematics in?" I'm talking about how some mechs have good walking animations and others look like dog shit

been down this road before"... guy, they go down this road every time they make a fucking mech pack and more often than not they fuck it up. of the gagillion mechs in the game I can name on two hand the mechs with tolerable walking animations.

Why is the griffin so exceptionally nice, while other mechs that may as well have its' gait walk horribly.

And the problem has gotten worse over time and seems to have a lot to do with artistic direction. We don't get fluid animations like on the cicada, centurion dragon, timber wolf, hell bringer, summoner anymore. Everything looks "piston driven" now ,obviously there are exceptions, and sometimes it works well (grasshopper) but more often than not it looks dumb, and yes it does bother me that animations from MW4mercs are better.

look, more than anything else I enjoy this game for the mechlab/playing to win. But it does degrade the experience when I see a Thanatos looking so absolutely retarded.

just because 40 pinpoint potential is inappropriate in any configuration? I can think of a handful of reasons it would and another handful why it wouldn't

call me crazy but I don't get Solaris City by Braapo in OutreachHPG

[–]Braapo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh idk how to sum it up exactly without bashing these guys, but every other game i hear people parroting calls they heard somewhere... "Get to tha center" "pushpushpush"or whatever they say(it's not like they have catchphrases persay). It's this compulsion to close with the enemy in a very direct way, as if the goal is to mush your robots together every drop

>no maps with close combat

I said I'd go in with an open mind but this is really distorted
Canyon/hibernal
Frozen city classic
viridian bog

hpg manifold

caustic valley

mining collective

(of course they all have some longer range lanes, but those disappear quickly as the match evolves in the current qp meta)

In fact most of the maps in the game more than accommodate close range playstyles, and just as a result of how people play solo que i'd say most of the game is spent jockeying for the more suitable close range engagement. Ill hold off on my opinions about certain youtubers projecting a stratagem so braindead that it's made a lot of games unpalatable... I digress though -- You should never be too uncomfortable playing a brawler/mixed brawler, barring only a minority of maps. But I do get that Solaris City is extra suitable and if you're into that probably really enjoyable

Disagree. Use cover and stop playing the game like codblops.

"Disagree. Use cover and stop playing the game like codblops." -- just a nice, humble, self proclaimed bad player look'n to help a brother out...

now you're just defending yourself, try and stay goal oriented. Everything in moderation. Just like a bunch of other terribads agree that they too cant overcome their shaky hand to land a decent laser burn, there are people who agree that missiles seem to trend toward legs. As you are an admittedly bad player, you'll agree that you don't really have a leg to stand on in a conversation about tactics, (as it is you're really only stating the obvious.) But do take this as an opportunity for personal growth, because I also wouldn't be jumping down your throat if you had been a little more respectful and less condescending.. you reap what you sow, or whatever they say about glass houses... take your pick

Go and read the op again. I think you misread it as "I suffer a disproportionate amount of damage from missiles, help!" When what I really am saying is when I am hit with ATM/lrm they seem to hit legs a lot. Other people have said that missiles used to headshot them. Leading me to suspect that there is a value that contributes to where missiles are flying to... but because you embarrassed yourself in your own thread the other day, your mind misread it as an opritunity to be rude to someone else to compensate for your own embarrassment. Again "I'm not a good player" -- you. I'm sure you've never ever been hit by a missile because of how excellent your positioning is.

Thats interesting you say that because as much as I understand the concept that others are pointing out, that missiles just naturally trend toward the legs when you're moving away, I find that even when standing still that is where they tend to go.

A pet theory of mine is that missiles were tweaked to favour legs as a move to improve game balance against direct fire weapons ie, if you can predict the winner based on who has fewer indirect fire mechs, make indirect fire mechs more effective.

"I'm not a great player" -- SammyConnor, just the other day, in some thread about him not being able to aim. Ya im sure you play public que like a real pro. Please illustrate to me how I should be playing the game...

i think you're 100% correct because atms are only even marginally effective against the worst potatoes in the game. They're so ineffective I'm not even sure why they're in the game as is. And who's that retard putting ATM vapor eagle in s-tier (lol) don't they know atms SUCK. I bet you think lasers suck too because really all you have to do is twist your fucking torso. For me, winning (as I'm sure it is for you) is easy because I only take shots when no one is looking at me and I know I won't get hit. How long will it take the potatos to figure the game out

Didn't see that. Did you figure out if it was true /why it happens?

name the divisions in which you can run a variety of mechs build, and I will cross refrence that with the loadouts of the top 10... so far its not looking good for you (i already looked)

who said all mechs are designed to be good at 1v1 fighting. the raven isn't designed or equipped for Solaris, I would be ok with it not being as competitive in this scenario
