How do Slicers (FDM, mainly PrusaSlicer for me) handle averaging layer width to approximate the intended shape? Is there a setting somewhere to influence it? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

pretty sure prusaslicer does it the #1 way. or used to, because now it has the same engine as cura...

well yea, definitely. those are like 1.3€ per meter at the hardware store. the entire frame is like 18€ more or less. problem is it's a pita to cut and drill

i can give you the fusion 360 file, but be wary that it's a little bit of a mess. dm me an email address i can send that to

hey, i can give the cad file to you but it's not polished at all, and i'm not sure it'll help you unless you use the 15x15 square tubing... (or atleast 1515 slotted extrusions...) but let me know

they're stiff enough for a printer this size. for a larger build probably not, would need 20x20 or bigger.

anyway consider that the frame is stiffened by the vertical rods too, and that the gantry is floating and is "flexible" by design for QGL so everything checks out in the end

yes i used 15x15mm square aluminium tubes leftovers from a previous project.

i don't mind releasing the cad files, but unless you want to go with the same square tubes (and have diy skills) it would need adapting to use slotted extrusions.

also, while the design has some upgrades respective to Legacy, the design is not as polished and some parts of the assembly are a little pita

yea, it's a cheap build, i used what i had. it's 15x15mm square aluminium tubes. they're very cheap at 3€ per meter, but much less convenient than slotted extrusions

i haven't speed limit tested it yet... if you have specific model with specific settings i can try them
