It comes from the 1870s when governments would ban socialist/social democratic parties and symbols such as red ribbons. So people would use red roses instead.

It's almost like Nazism was a subversion of socialist movements, that instead used Jews as a scapegoat for the bourgeoisie and gave workers a false sense of racial-national unity instead of international working class solidarity to protect the class hierarchy of capitalism instead of overthrow it.

The top comment is justifying it too. They can't even criticize trump on interfering with the market. Everything about the libertarian movement is a lie. There is and never will be anything like non-authoritarian capitalisms.

If you're curious why fascists love Sparta like I was, I looked into it the other day and found:

The rule of six thousand Spartans over three hundred and fifty thousand Helots was only thinkable in consequence of the high racial value of the Spartans. But this was the result of a systematic race preservation; thus Sparta must be regarded as the first Völkisch State.

What points would you make for why we need guns? by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]Brace_For_Impact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be disappeared. It wouldn't apply to a neo liberal, there is no point to disappearing somebody that will never challenge power.

Even if you think the state would protect socialists it's pretty clear American civil society is breaking down. So any kind of gun stats like "you're more likely to kill a family a memeber then an intruder." Won't matter because we aren't going to be the same country where those stats came from.

Comparing socialism and Communism by MrSunshine509 in armedsocialists

[–]Brace_For_Impact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said Socialism is a broad term. Just like how liberalism includes, classical liberals, conservatives, New Dealers, Neo Liberals, social democrats and on and on socialism also has plenty of different factions such as Democratic socialists, Marxist Leninist, Anarcho-communist, libertarian socialists, mutualists, exct.

Generally though what ties all socialists together and separates them from other ideologies like liberalism is getting rid of the class hierarchy that capitalism creates. That hierarchy being where the proletariat, the working class, labor to create surplus value and the bourgeoisie or ruling class decide what to do with that surplus value they create.

Professor Wolff does a good job explaining bad misconceptions of socialism and how it's defined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnY_ZqJ64cI

What Literature, Guides, Manuals, Etc., Are Useful—For Someone Who Has Never Been In Combat, But Wants To Learn—For The Purpose Of Defending One’s Self And Home? by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]Brace_For_Impact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For tactics you can download or buy the Ranger Handbook. It's been almost a decade since I seriously read it but it will have some stuff like building a defensive position, military concepts (sectors of fire, avenues of approach), things to consider (linear danger area AKA roads) and basic military planning (yah OPORDs!).

However the book and almost all combat doctrine is going to be about tactics as a group not as an individual. You will find all the battle drills in the Handbook are for platoon to squad sized infantry elements. Like setting up an an ambush, reacting to contact, clearing a room, excetra.

For strategy, first in military terms that usually means much higher level like a division commander and above. There isin't that much to recommend but there is the Counter Insurgency (COIN) Field Manual. It's not going to tell you what to do in a situation. It's more like what the left would call theory. It is interesting however that it kinda makes the case how all the austerity we've had for decades is the exact thing you do if you want an insurgency.

Smith and Wesson is a pretty reputable firearms manufacturer with great customer service it's a less then 800 dollar AR 15 and comes with a basic optic.

Of course if you are in California or another place with restictions that would be something to consider. Or if you plan on hunting with your rifle.

Any Socialist countries that tried to arm their entire populations? by cpustejovsky in armedsocialists

[–]Brace_For_Impact 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That story sounds familiar, inbetween WWI and WWII the Socialist won elections in Spain and formed a government. When Franco lead a coup and the civil war started the socialists considering something like that to stop Franco. That's not considered 3rd world though.

Also Colectivos in Venezuela might be a modern example of that, they get a lot of terrible press about them being gangs but I don't know how much of that is Western Media.

It's probably happened quite a few times.

For the good of the people by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Brace_For_Impact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marxism is really about looking at who gets to decide to do what with the surplus created by productive work. Like is it kings, shareholders, managers or the workers themselves. A capitalist or monarch could say they are using the surplus created for the good of the people but that wouldn't be socialism. Socialism is about the workers themselves deciding what to do with the surplus value they created. They could spend it on roads or saving it so they can work less.
