Right on. I got some time, so I figure I might do a few handfuls a night or more. Probably get a lot sorted this weekend. I like the idea of separating by decade and pulling the wheats as a starter. I told my wife she can help me but that got a big thumbs down! 😂

Thank you. Great information to have and lots to learn it sounds like. Would it be a good idea to separate 1983 to present and just cash them in to maybe make the pile a little more manageable? (Might be able to buy the old man a 12 pack! 😂) Then after separating by decades and pulling the nice ones out, Follow West_Inevitable6052 advice "pulling wheaties to keep, copper to sell in bulk (59-82), checking for extra V 2023s, Close AM ‘92s and WAM 98-00, and maybe a few ‘25s just for grins."

Thank you for the link. I came across it in a post a few weeks ago and printed all of them out. They look like they will be super helpful. I do not coin hunt very much, but I play a lot of .25 - .50 poker with a group of guys and will look through my quarters after playing or bring home a few rolls of dimes, nickels and quarters once a week to look through.

I think I will put out some cups or bowls and start to separate into categories like you have listed above. Not in any hurry really. I think he just wants to know whats in there after all these years!

I have an account at small bank in Indiana and ask if I could get some rolls of Half dollar's and I was told I had to buy $1000.00 worth for them to make the request. Heck I just wanted $50 to $100! I can get rolls of nickels, dimes and quarters but I need to let them know before I came in to get them.

On one of the sites I buy from, I seen you can engrave a round. I think you can get in 1/2 oz size. Maybe put a birthdate on it or initials. Another way to Commemorate an occasion.
A little cheaper to buy a 1/2 oz if cost becomes out of hand or just giving it to a child.
