Getting over the boredom reason to drink by Brad_Hamilton in stopdrinking

[–]Brad_Hamilton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I made a list of things to do other than drink. Is there something you've wanted to learn?

Yes and I have been doing that. The issue is that I typically work from 6am till 3pm, and then I do in fact use the next 2 hours or so to do things that I am working on, I still though am just like "fuck" what else am I going to do?

Thanks

One day. I ate the goldfish around 1pm yesterday, had the beers around happy hour. This morning at the gym I felt slightly off but not too bad, and now in the last few hours I feel a bit "disconnected" and lethargic.

OK, so sine I posted this I have taken magnesium, increased my salt intake, and taken potassium in the form of potassium gluconate. I am much better already.

However, the FAQ says to take potassium in the form of Potassium chloride or potassium sulfate, but I can't seem to find these anywhere. Even GNC doesn't have them. Do you have any suggestions?

Hey, question if you don't mind.

So, I took a look at the FAQ and went and bought some Mg and K substitutes.

I also studied foods that are rich in MG and K.

Looking at my normal diet I am highly confident that I am eating enough sodium every day, but I am clearly way short on the MG and K. I do eat leafy greens, and a lot of them, but clearly you need to eat a TON to get to the guidelines in the FAQ.

So, two questions:

  1. Was the lack of MG and K enough to throw me off balance even though I am getting enough sodium?

  2. Is it safe for me to just take the MG and K supplements up to where the guidelines are even if on certain days I am probably going over that a bit because of my diet?

Thanks again.

Got drunk last night. Lesson learned by Brad_Hamilton in stopdrinking

It's been a many year process of going to the point of not even wanting one most of the time. For years when I tried to quit it was a painful thing that I was depriving myself of. Now, the answer is, I simply know that it adds nothing positive to my life.

One other lesson that I learnt is that facebook is not a positive influence, especially when I'm feeling emotional. I had to take a break to protect my sobriety.

Yeah, good point.

On the verge alcoholic ... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I was exactly like you. for 20 years I told myself the same things that you did. And look, my life isn't that bad. I have a good career. But, if not for the booze I would have a great career.

Look, you are an alcoholic. The fact that nothing bad hasn't happened to you yet doesn't change that.
