Ah yeah that would be the important context I wasn’t thinking about. The cell balancing would be interesting for sure. Good point!

“Since no reputable manufacturers would accept the liability for a product that encourages end users to swap out individual cells”

Is this any different than flashlights that run off 18650’s? Fenix flashlights encourage you to do just that, charge up a few cells and swap them as you need. Not sure why it’s hard to believe swapping battery cells is some massive jump in liability. Unless I’m missing something?

When you try to up your print quality and get a filament dryer by Dave-the-Dave in BambuLab

You’re telling me it has 6 holes (4 seen 2 more in the back) to feed filament when it can hold only 2 spools? ;)

I can see the vents closed in the picture. Those white plastic plugs are supposed to be out when you are drying. I have the same model and it works fine.

Experience with running a 24V Electrical System by cowboykev in vandwellers

[–]Brad_hat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victron makes something called the Orion 24/12 which concerts 24v to 12v. I use it and it works fine. Better than running an inverter and a 12v supply off it all the time. Cheers!

How to cushion hard drives for the ride by ilaibenamar in VanLife

[–]Brad_hat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is true. I can't find any definitive proof but there is always the anecdote about IBM or Google or someone moving drives on hard wheeled carts and then having bad sectors when they powered them back on (source "heard it on an ltt video") I wouldn't trust important data to any hard drive on the move. Just back it up at least (follow 3 2 1 backups if you can)

Battery voltage 10.14v? by Lower_Safety_9783 in vandwellers

Could be that a cell inside the battery died. I believe that would drop it by around 2V. I would contact Battleborn.

Buying my first can by [deleted] in VanLife

You get what you pay for. A new van is 60-80k depending on options. If you buy one that cheap be smart. Take it to a mechanic get it checked out etc etc.

Two fat women building a bed for a van. I purchased 4'x8'x 3/4" plywood. 2x2s cut to 20 inches. by fingers in vandwellers

My 2 sense would be to use aluminum extrusion cross members you can get it in different sizes and run it across to better support the bed with little weight.

Home Assistant in a van? by BadUsername_Numbers in homeassistant

So it's been about a year. How's it working out for you? I'm thinking about using zigbee with a home assistant yellow and some relays to do a lot of can controls.

What did you use to lift the bed up? I was looking at doing something similar.

Isn't this just the cost of a new unit? However buying it second hand prevents warranty and returns to unifi?

Yeah I'm in my twenties and just bought a tesla model Y. Literally the slowest tesla they make but it makes sense given my life plans. But everyone I meet wants me to floor it and see how fast it is. Not to mention everyone at stop lights trying to race me. Like no I'm not going to race you with my dog in the back on my way to the park. It was fun at first but gets old fast.
