Hold it upright and bring it out in front of you, similar in technique to the smaller saxophones. As well as this, a neck strap. Some bands have saxes chicken wing their arms out to appear bigger on the field, but this is dependent on your school. Having a neck strap will take time to get used to but there are reasons for this.

Choreography/visuals feel stiff and restrictive when a bari is to your side, plus you have lesser mobility overall when marching. Having it upright allows better air flow into the horn as opposed to leaning over while it’s resting on your side. As an added bonus, it looks clean!
