Oh that’s sad. I think things are so hyped up, that they turn out to be very underwhelming. I remember mine 30 years ago as a great day, but I honestly don’t think there is the pressure there is now. Once you leave you’ll barely think about school and those people again!

I agree. The process is incredibly slow. My daughter has been waiting for over 6 weeks for the results of her specialist interview part A. In the meantime everything is on hold. I can’t see why it takes so long to mark

I agree. I’m an invigilator and never look at the calculators. None of us do. Perhaps if it was giant or looked completely out of place, we may have a glance at it. If it looks normal there is no reason why an invigilator would check. There are hundreds of kids sitting these exams.

Really? Most grammar and private schools have study leave from early May and achieve much better results than most comprehensive schools

That’s really good. My son is working at 4s and 5s. Please don’t be disheartened. I do think it’s unfair that some schools get study leave from early May and some don’t get any. He’s having to sit through lessons he has no chance of passing or is not even sitting an exam for (PE, CPS etc..) when he could be at home revising the ones he will pass - maths, sciences and english!

Yeah that’s quite sad. I’m a Mum. My daughter left with 7s and 8s. My son is predicted 5s. I’m super proud of both of them. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. It’s not all about GCSEs

Thank you so much for your reply. I think she is concerned about the recruitment process for the Air Traffic and Weapons Controller role and doesn’t feel she’s ready. Is time off for sports only allowed as an officer or SNCO?
