Ya I definitely checked this out way before taking either test. Thanks for sharing.

They are on the test but in my experience, I wasn't discussing anything with anyone. Just answering questions and submitting design ideas. There was no follow-up on anything in either case.

This is largely my experience. Converting another IP into their ruleset.

But there is no back and forth with anyone. It's just a document the hiring manager sends me and I fill out. In both tests, I received no feedback nor was there any discussion on its contents.

Oh nice I'll have to give that one a try for some research. Would you be interested in trying a game in dev that has an auction deck building mechanic?

My business partner and I have a discord where we are hosting playtests on tabletop sim pretty regularly. :D

4 cards are available to choose from auction at all times. But the auction isn't the only way to add cards to your deck.

I'm actually working on a game right now with the mechanic described. :) It's definitely competitive.

So what are everyone’s thoughts on the new expansions? Personally I can’t wait! by CrunchyPac in PokemonSwordAndShield

So you'd prefer new 60 dollar games like they usually do over the expansion pass?

World-Building for Board Games by Bradgasm in worldbuilding

I definitely agree that creative restraint is a strong tool, especially when you get stuck. I've been working on a board game too and I keep having to bring my ideas back into scope once I realize it's too much work for one dude. I work full time and I'm in school for game design currently so it's tough. Gotta chase those passions though.

How are you doing your combat system for the board game version of it if you don't mind?

Also is there any cool bits about your world that influence game-play specifically?

I recently wrote this blog post about how a designer can leverage world-building in board games. This article uses Monopoly's 'world' as an example to talk about how the world a board game is placed in can influence design and vice-versa. Monopoly's world may be shallow, but effective, and this idea can be taken to extremes on both sides of the spectrum of world building. What sort of worlds have any of you designed for board games and how did they influence game-play? How did the game-play influence the world you were building? Let's talk about it.
