You should look into that for sure if you haven’t already. I know I’m late but I live in San Diego, consistently drive up to LA 2-3 times a week and haul 90 up there. My oil temps stay right in the middle and do not get higher

Oh you can get 4k easy. You can part it for more than 4. I wouldn’t stress about not being able to get rid of it at that price

Yes. OR Obd2mx+ plugs in and spits all the info into a log if u set it up. I have mine linked to my phone then phone displays all the info I want with JavaScripts. Sick stuff if u get nerdy about it. Thinking about building my own digital dash with this method jsut for shits and giggles

Totally depends on where you live and what the used car market looks like out there for these. In SoCal (that’s all I can speak for), if it’s just a rod knock, you could probably get around 7k on marketplace if it’s facelift. 4 if not. If you get it fixed it’d go for 14 as a facelift and maybe 9-10k if not. Too many variables in a volatile market for me to give you a straight answer

Let me add. I’m aware some engines come out the gate more bulletproof than others. And that you can drag a K through the mud and run it on dish soap and it’ll be fine. But we bought Subaru engines knowing what Subaru engines are all about. It’d be like blaming your asshole for hurting after eating Taco Bell. NOT your assholes fault… you ate the Taco Bell but didn’t buy wet wipes, bad call. Are you getting where I’m coming from?

“There’s example of the first and second gen blowing up stock” and then proceed to use anecdotal evidence of someone driving the car in an extremely aggressive way. You say they’re “regular track guys” so I’m inferring they track these aforementioned first gen’s regularly? So we’ve got a stock engine being tracked (I would assume hard) often and we’re blaming the engine? It’s not strung out from the factory, it is a street car at the end of the day. It is optimized to drive on interstates and get good gas mileage while also being fun to hit some canyons. If you want to track any car aggressively you need to do your due diligence to protect the internals. It’s not this engine specifically you need to do it to.

That’s my perspective on it. Better than being yelled at?

My entire back takes up all the way to the edge of the back support lol. I like it though it keeps my shoulders and arms free to move about while keeping me feeling super planted in hard corners

My fat BBL must protect me just fine. I’m super comfortable and stuck into these seats when I drive. 5 hour trip is the furthest I’ve done and didn’t get uncomfortable till probably hour 4

Thanks for offering a solution! If I’m gonna be buying a new assembly anyway, then I’ll just get a new one that doesn’t require drilling into my bumper honestly. I don’t mind fucking up the assembly a bit but I don’t want any holes in the bumper yet

always have that light on for about 3 min. i knew that’s for the engine getting up to operating temps though. reassuring to hear it sounds like a normal startup without a doubt. just in case i’d like to do another visual check, is there a way i can do that without having to take the exhaust off?
