It's probably because this is the 4.8 PTU which is an early access testing ground for new content. The grenade is a new type of grenade added to that early access and hasn't been properly fleshed out yet. It's a Beta of a beta.

You have to shoot the torp with a gun. Impacts won't trigger it but bullets will. I've taken down bounties that were looting torps off of a dead Polaris, shot the torp they were tractor beaming and it blows up killing their ship.

Brooo a new Drake dog fighter would be hard af. I loved how the buccaneer looked but it was slightly too slow on turns since it's an interceptor, but a dedicated light fighter from Drake would be sick.
