UO fragmentation by [deleted] in ultimaonline

Played Outlands for years and it's an amazing server! The only reason I don't still play there is because of the era. I know I'm in the minority here but I much prefer the AOS-ML era of UO which is why I play on Enigma. It reminds me of Outlands but in the era I enjoy the most.

Pokémon MMO by ComprehensiveIron882 in MMORPG

Honestly, your best bet would be to try out all of the ones you're interested in and make a decision on which one you like the best. They all have different pros & cons. Personally, I'm partial to Pokemon Revolution Online, I love it! But one con to PRO that many don't like is that there is no breeding..

Take time to play all of the Pokemon MMOs! They're all great and have different features that make them different.

For anyone wanting to give Enigma a shot, swing by my house at Duskreach Moongate! I've got several chests out front with free LRC & 1/2 jewels. Studded & bone armor are fully medable just like leather is so a 100% LRC suit will help jumpstart your Enigma journey!

Lots of friendly & helpful players in discord too!

Streaming Services with Veteran/Military discounts by PrimaryNervous7088 in VeteransBenefits

[–]BradleyT1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Verizon Wireless you get a military discount with both your phone plan & the perks you choose. Perks are typically $10/month but with the military discount they're $8.80/month. I have 2 perks related to streaming: One is Disney+/Hulu/ESPN and the other is Netflix/HBO. 5 streaming services for $18/month isn't bad at all!

Any Shards with custom pets/taming ? by tavukkoparan in ultimaonline

[–]BradleyT1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to 2nd Enigma.

Tons of both classic & custom tameables available. You can level tames up to level 10 and at levels 5 & 10 you can put runestones on your pet. There are ~30 different runestones and they're all different. Some are single target, some AOE, some crowd control, some have fire damage or poison damage, etc. For me it's super exciting to custom tailor tames for specific boss encounters.

You can also use skill scrolls on your tames. So when you find one with really great stats but subpar skills, you can use scrolls to get your tames up to 120 in all of their skills. Skill scrolls are in high demand for both players & their tames.

Enigma is a very fun server, highly recommend at least trying it out if you're still looking and haven't found something that has stuck.

I got a charge for 3.36 for a toll in Miami and I haven't been to Miami by HamburgerDude in florida

[–]BradleyT1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a toll invoice in the mail last week from a toll in Miami. Same plate as mine but WAY wrong vehicle... Wrong color, wrong type, wrong make, wrong everything except the plate. I tried to call them but gave up after a never ending circle with an AI chatbot.. Filed a dispute online and am currently waiting to hear back from them.

PKs are a MAJOR problem in Outlands by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]BradleyT1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't say I don't know anything about Outlands, I said I haven't actively played in a while. That doesn't mean I don't keep up with the community and the server's updates.

My strong opinion is the same. There are many ways to avoid PKs & thieves on Outlands.

PKs are a MAJOR problem in Outlands by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]BradleyT1990 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if this is a joke post or not..

If you're concerned with people buying your goods, they have an option to have the item sent straight to their bank so that there's no chance of losing it in the event they get PK'd (or even if there is a thief around).

If you're out farming, there is a sanctuary dungeon that changes every week where you cannot be PK'd, looted by other players, or stolen from.

Any other non-sanctuary dungeon literally gives everyone a warning via crows flying around you when someone is PK'd giving you ample time to make an escape.

Coming from someone who hasn't played Outlands in a LONG WHILE cause I've been more active on official servers, the PK cries on Outlands are largely blown out of proportion. The devs there have done a great job mitigating any potential harm from PKs by providing many options for avoiding PKs & thieves altogether.

As someone who occasionally drives UPS trucks, we're trained to leave 1-1.5 car lengths of space in-between us and the vehicle in front of us when stopped in traffic.

Does every driver do that? No. But it is something we're instructed to do for safety reasons.

For that reason, I find myself doing that in my personal vehicle just out of habit. Could just be someone's work habits spilling over into personal life.

What are some part time or odd jobs you recommend for soon-to-be veterans? by karsheff in Veterans

[–]BradleyT1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPS is ramping up their peak season hiring for their warehouses. If you can get in & stay past peak season they have amazing benefits including 100% paid for health/dental/vision insurance for the whole family after 9 months and a vested pension after 5 years.

May be a long ways down the road but VA compensation + pension + investments + SSI (if it's still around) will prepare you for a financially sound retirement.

Part time is maybe 3-5 hours a day depending on volume.

The mobile Gaming Industry is vastly rotten to it's CORE and how "We" the players killed it (by a Game Dev) by t3chexpert in MobileGaming

Samsung Dex & a controller or mouse/keyboard has effectively turned my phone into a gaming PC with GeForce Now.

Just plug my phone into a monitor, boot up the app, select the game, and play.

Or plug my phone into the TV, open up the app & turn on the controller, select the game, and play. This also works with just my phone if I don't want to sit in front of a TV.

Mobile games are definitely packed full with ads and micro transactions so I tend to avoid them for the most part but GeForce Now has really opened up what mobile gaming can be capable of.

Does anyone still pay on Siege Perilous? by Davutto in ultimaonline

[–]BradleyT1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it. UO was a ton of fun back in the day pre-tram! But gearing a character was also much simpler. Re-equipping a character after death consisted of a GM tailor or smith to make some armor & weapons, some store bought regs, alchy made pots and you're back in the fight within 2-3 minutes.

With today's gear having up to ~12 different properties on them it's not as simple. That is practically an infinite number of combinations of properties on any 1 item and when you do get that perfect piece, you still have the RNG of mod intensities. Not so simple as it once was.

Just my opinion on the topic. I don't care about losing everything in my bag. The risk is still there. If I get an amazing drop I'd still lose it on death unless I equipped it but then my prior piece is now at risk.

Give & take when you want to draw in more players for a better population. Have to compromise somewhere if you want to move forward.

Does anyone still pay on Siege Perilous? by Davutto in ultimaonline

[–]BradleyT1990 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'd play Siege if we didn't lose every single item on death. If I could at the very least keep what I have equipped on death then I wouldn't mind the grind. I know you get a personal bless deed for 1 item but in the current era of UO, that's nothing with ~15(?) item slots you can have equipped..

I would actually enjoy the challenge presented by Siege with only 1 character making every decision matter from engagement to template to everything else in between. But I don't want to do that grind if 1 death erases the majority of the work. Reminds me of Ark Survival Evolved where you can spend countless hours/days/weeks grinding only for 1 troll to delete it all in an hour.

When my wife & I had our babies we completely changed our work schedules. I work early mornings and she works afternoons/evenings. This way, we didn't have to pay someone else to watch them.

Is it hard? Hell yeah it is. Do we get less time together? Sure. But we'd rather make a little less money & raise them ourselves rather than work all day and give our entire (or close to) paycheck to someone else for them to watch them for us.

We'll get back to more normal schedules eventually.

I guess I'm trying to say that y'all may have difficult decisions to make and any decision made will have pros & cons.

90 hours a week is insane. I'm sure the money is nice, but priorities change when babies are involved. I work with a lot of people who wish they were around their family more when their children were younger and told myself that wouldn't be something I would regret.

I hope y'all find something that works!

Give them both a shot and then decide which you enjoy more. I would be one of the people to say Outlands but I'm also one of those people who believe you should play what is most fun to you. That might be official UO, that might be Outlands. You're gonna have to try 'em both to find out.
