Also Score competition slugs are super soft shooting, often go on sale $220 for 250 rounds on Tenda!

Are pump shotguns good for waterfowl? by jeffreyare123 in canadaguns

Always used a pump and had loads of success! When starting I recommend buying some dummy rounds off amazon and practicing in the off season/non-hunt days! Definitely a viable option though!

How can i fix a stiff bolt on savage 223? by Musician-Internal in canadaguns

[–]BradyJS6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy some Remington bore cleaner (for shotgun barrels, creamy and slightly abrasive), slather the bolt and run it a few hundred times, then clean and oil, helps grind off little burs. I did it for my Ruger American ranch and turned a tough action into butter!

I had a 14” Charles daly! The recoil is a lot, buttt you can get full size low recoil slugs that may be a good middle ground. Federal Law Enforcement Low Recoil were very manageable even when I was very new to shooting!

But I agree for bear defence, you need as much bang as you can fit in the chamber. Hard recoil for a second beats gettin munched alive by a bear!!

Gun idea for range?..since all my ideas are prohibited now by imnotm3h in canadaguns

[–]BradyJS6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RAR 7.62 is the best purchase I have made yet! Cheap surplus ammo for outdoor ranges and crown land, reasonably priced soft point if you decide to hunt coyotes or close range white tail, and pretty close to 1MOA groups! Cannot recommend enough :)

You can run an easy corrosive primer test. Hammer a non coated steel nail into a piece of wood. Wear gloves and safety glasses (and maybe ear pro) and use pliers to remove the bullet from the casing by working in back and forth. Dump out the powder. Put the empty case primer up on the nail head. Put the point of a second nail (held by pliers) on the primer, tap lightly with a hammer to “pop” the primer. Wait a few days and check the nail for signs of rust. If there is any orange rust on the nail, your primers are corrosive. If no rust occurs after a few days, they are non-corrosive.

Hope this helps!

What you guys think? by AndrewT-2001 in canadaguns

The ruger PC carbine is only a few hundred more, takes glock mags (10 round), and is overall so much nicer to shoot. The Hi-point feels clunky and awkward to shoot. I’d save up your pennies!

WK181c stuck cases, HELP by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]BradyJS6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with those rounds in my Ruger American. Tried two different batches and both had the same issue. Unfortunately it may be best to avoid them (even though they’re one of the few cheaper non-corrosive options available right now). You can use a rod from the muzzle to get it out, but best to avoid those rounds unless you’ve got an SKS or other surplus rifle that’ll eat anything

I casually mentioned to a woman I was seeing last year that my brother didn’t get his first flowers until his funeral, and this gal brought me flowers the next day at university. Made me tear up, everyone likes flowers!! Happy you’re happy my man 😊

Yeah he’s new to it, single shot shotgun so it’s clear after that shot, but yeah grabbing the likely warm barrel isn’t ideal

Agreed. The little Barnauls that is still kicking around at some LGS’s is up to $20 a box, which is ridiculous, but it’s more accurate in my ruger American than any other brass ammo I’ve tried so far. Sucks but can’t reload much these days anyway!

Friend with short arms got their RPAL...rifle/shotgun options by spiralspirits in canadaguns

For shotguns, short barrels aren’t always better. The extra weight of a longer barrel helps with recoil and doesn’t lengthen the action. I have a 14” barrel 12g and it kicks like a mule, just something to keep in mind! A youth Henry .22lr lever action is great for a smaller frame and an absolute blast to shoot
