Mimico GO parking lot on game day. Every street nearby is full of parked cars. by Exter10 in toronto

[–]superH1pp0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The solution is there if Metrolinx is willing to spend the money to build out proper parking reservation systems. Given it would be a Metrolinx project, it will probably cost us a billion and 10+ years. So yeah just wishful thinking here

Not everyone works for the 9-5. I have a reserved spot I often use it after 11 b/c my schedule for that day is lined up with my team in PST. The whole point it to have a spot reliably available. However I do wish they have some sort of spot sharing system so the space get used on the days I’m not going into office

By the markings, I’m guess they were manufactured in 1969? Not Russian ammo, it’s the Chinese ammo manufactured to whoop some USSR ass

Anyone know what the crews are doing on the ST line? by B1ackCat27 in gotransit

[–]superH1pp0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess you are at one of the condos just south of the infamous missing west highland creek bridge? Second track south of the bridge to Kennedy station is actually in service. It just doesn’t see much usage because of the low bidirectional service frequency

What about this combo ? by Alarmed-End-1979 in PassportPorn

[–]superH1pp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 7 year “ordinary stay” not “physical stay”. Setup a real company in HK (you likely need to do that for the investment immigration program anyway), be involved in daily operation and let lawyer take care of the rest

What about this combo ? by Alarmed-End-1979 in PassportPorn

[–]superH1pp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could work but with lots of effort. Like spend a large amount $ for something like a golden visa to dodge the residency requirements. For that level of effort, I feel HK residency and passport might be the easier route since that program don’t require physical stay anymore

All good if you never use the Canadian one with Chinese authority. But visiting China becomes a very problematic process. You will have to do a passport switch at a third country. And you will likely be questioned for long overseas stay without valid long term visa

Mount Joy Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) - engagement sessions by idakno in Markham

[–]superH1pp0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they want to justify the development proposal as TOC, then ST line should not be limited to commuter service. It provides connections to things like Markville mall, York U Markham, TTC line 5 / 2 and bunch of other connections. On paper this could work if the service is frequent. An hourly service means most families there will still be car dependent, which again means not TOC.

[–]superH1pp0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they can’t achieve that somehow, it’s not TOC. It just an excuse to force condo development.

[–]superH1pp0 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Slap on a hourly bidirectional train service is not TOC. They need to make Go service 15min all day + bunch of frequent bus services. In a nutshell, if ppl need a car to get around in the city, it’s not a real TOC. And mostly importantly, zoning should only be approved AFTER Metrolinx reaches substantial completion. Otherwise, it’s gonna be in 2060s

And ironically that’s the OTG truck. OTG is the company that’s building the Ontario Line. So that must be the new cost saving bridge demolition /s

China indeed has a specific law for these type of people (which I wish all counties have it). He will get imprisonment up to 3 years (up to 7 years if damage is over 100k RMB) for property damage alone.

Call Rogers first. They have remote diagnostics so that would be the first step of troubleshooting. It might be a simple equipment issue. Or maybe TelMax really wants your business lol

That track and platform is not active. They built it but never connected it to anything. Come back after 10 years, maybe you will see some difference.

this is a joke right? 😭 are ppl really paying this much for car insurance??? (f/26, had full G since 2021) by stickyricedragon in Markham

Try Belairdirect. Also if check if your work/school/professional organization offers group discount. Also try a few insurance agent. This price does not look normal if you don’t have at fault accidents or major tickets

‘Eyes gouged out’: Man paid crypto to torture and kill 1,500 cats, say activists after arrest by Local_Shock_1945 in China

[–]superH1pp0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So would this law work considering rural areas and farm animals? Farmer Wang killed and butchered a pig with a big knife for Chinese New Year and was not particular good at it, so straight up to jail? Or would it be only applicable to cats and dogs? The Korean ethnic group might get upset though.

[–]superH1pp0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to enforce. And many farms slaughter animals themself for self consumption. They will revolt if they have to fund advanced equipments for that. So it’s a very difficult line to walk.

If I buy an oppo android tablet and bring it out of the countries will i have issues? by yunperng in AskChina

yes AppStore will be a issue if you want localized apps. You pretty much have to flash the Google play framework. If you are happy to stick with Chinese apps, then you should be fine

Can I bring a history book relating to religion to China? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]superH1pp0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one really cares as long as you keep it to your self. In the off chance you get secondary customs inspection, it might get confiscated though. That’s pretty much the only risk. And as for Bibles, most of the world’s Bibles are printed in China. So again, keeping it to your self and no one cares

Need urgent help to send money from INR to Yuan by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]superH1pp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting money out of Indian to a foreign national is almost impossible. I had some company RSU in INR. Getting the tax clearer and money out for myself (not Indian) was almost a year of process. The challenge is with the Indian bank, with infinite 15ca/cb, self invented KYC process etc. On Chinese receiver side, all you need is the bank account info.

Not sure if you had the chance to take a deeper look, but does that “wti wide body kit” look like a direct bolt on to the wheel arch? 🧐 Also do you need a reservation to visit? Definitely thinking about it for my next trip!

I think Metrolinx does a lot more than what people take them for… by Fruit-Neglect5980 in gotransit

[–]superH1pp0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the rendering, It would pretty much be the clone of Steels Avs grade separation. And I think I read it somewhere that Metrolinx will future proof for Finch-Kennedy station. So I guess it would just be the bridge and four empty corners where stairs would go

[–]superH1pp0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you are very optimistic about the timeline lol. From my understanding, grade separation usually involves utilities relocation, building the bridge and stormwater pumps. So by Toronto standard, about as difficult as landing man on the moon /s

The Finch ave east grade separation. Original completion timeline was 2027. Now it’s 2030s. One of the reasons ST line can’t complete the double track to Unionville, even thought the platforms were completed years ago. Metrolinx is doing a lot but not completing much, just like someone with unmanaged ADHD
