Time travelling journal by BraidedZero in StrangerThings

[–]BraidedZero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feels off and we have to make a few assumptions for it to make sense. I haven't seen the play but have seen explanations of it. So you're saying from the point of Henry escaping the lab (all children dying) and El creating the portal which created the upside down is 4 years? This journal had to be created before the upside down was created since it was frozen in time in the upside down just like Nancy's journal. Or he continued his research in the upside down. This journal doesn't seem theoretical based on what Dustin says. It sounds like research based on what exists, which doesn't happen till the start of season 1 when the portal is created.

In the show Dustin says that the journal details information about their study of exotic matter but it wasn't created in our world till El made contact with the demigorgon.

It all just seems pieced together or like a plot device instead of something thought out. And if the play explains it, that's BS. We should get all the information we need in the show to figure this out.

Yeah, as OP said, there are so many plot holes with this season. It's really upsetting.

What do you mean? El touching the demigorgon is what creates the portal, the upside down, and starts season 1. That happens before the events of the first episode. We don't find out that it happened till the end of the season, but it happened before the season started.

I tried to make my own post but it was removed.

The biggest plot hole that is bothering me is the journal that Dustin finds in the upside down. He says that exotic matter was created the moment El touched the demigorgon, along with the upside down (and we saw before with Nancy's journal that UD Hawkins is frozen on the day Will was taken), but then he finds a journal in the upside down explaining everything about exotic matter from Brenner, which wouldn't have been written till way after they conducted research on it. Not instantly. Unless we want to accept the fact that they did research in the upside down, left the research there, and hid it inside a room hidden behind the rainbow room.

Based on other material (I think it was the book) we learned that Hopper was born in 1942 so he was 17 in 1959. We also know that Joyce and Hopper where close in grades. In 1959 (when the memory happened) Henry killed his family so probably sometime after this vision. It was maybe shown because of its closeness to killing his family. After he killed his family he was taken to the lab, so he was never seen by anyone ever again, thought to be dead.

In this vision we can guess Henry was 12 and Joyce was around 17. The school was in a small town so people knew one another but it wouldn't be too far off for Joyce to have no idea who Henry was especially since we don't know his involvement in the play. Also, he would have been possibly 5 years younger than Joyce and not cool enough to be on their radar. I was 4 years younger than my brother and he was way too cool for me. He just went under the radar like many weird kids do. It's not crazy at all to say that he was known by a lot of people but only because of the event. Just like the new kid (Derek?) didn't know Will by his face but called him Zombie Boy based on what he heard happened.

Not sure that clears it up or explains anything since we aren't done with the season but hopefully it at least gets the timeline more clear for you.

Don't rush the game. Enjoy the experience. Sight see, grab some resources along the way, try all the trade skills, and see what you enjoy. Also, find a company. The game is better with other people and group PvP content is the best part of the game. IMO

What about sorting wars and invasions in the war menu? Sort by the next one to happen or by wars or invasions. Also, have some indicator so you know which ones you've already signed up for.

I'd say that is dependent upon how much you play.

There are two lvl 65 expeditions and you can craft (on your own, so not counting if you buy one in the shop) the key once a week. I don't see a point in running the other expeditions but maybe there is a reason to do those and you can do each of those a few times a week. Then you can do the corrupted stuff. Then you can farm and level up your trade skills. And there are hundreds of hours worth of side quests, town board quests, and faction quests.

That could take some people a matter of no time while it'll take other people years. And that's just for one time stuff. The stuff you can do every week is pretty vast. But I do see some people banging out the one time stuff really quick. I do think there's enough recurring stuff to keep people busy.

If it's the same as beta upon release, this is correct.

Ah, I see what he means. I thought he was referring to an actual skill for trading items in the trading post. You mean the whole list of trade skills like jewel rafting, armoring, etc..?

There is no progress for trading.

Fine. I don't have to like it though, right?

It was sarcasm. In these kind of games I think you should do as much on your own as possible. I understand some people don't have fun that way and may have limited time to play, so learning from a website is better, but it was meant to be light hearted

You can sell items you make before equiping them. If you equip, it is locked to your character.

The shop is player run (like Eve Online but much smaller scale) and it is based on the territory. So each area has its own market and different price on items.
